The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is not an unannounced game: Bethesda released it on April 22, 2025. A May 20, 2026 report said references to the remaster had been found on Bethesda’s official website, but described site material—not a new announcement. The report’s underlying website evidence has not been independently documented in the sources available here.

What the website report actually said

Position Is Everything published an article titled “Oblivion Remastered Has Now Been Found On The Official Bethesda Website” on May 20, 2026. It described the reported discovery as site listings or backend assets, and explicitly distinguished that material from a public announcement, store listing, trailer, or press release. Read the report.

The date matters: the article appeared more than a year after Bethesda had announced the game as available. Its headline should therefore be read as a report about website references, not breaking news that Bethesda was preparing to reveal an unreleased game. The original material said to have been found is not independently documented in the sources cited here.

Why Bethesda calls it a remaster, not a remake

Bethesda Game Studios says development began in 2021 and describes the project as a remaster made with Virtuos. In its April 22, 2025 launch statement, the studio explained: “We never wanted to remake it – but remaster it – where the original game was there as you remember playing it, but seen through today’s technology.” Read Bethesda Game Studios’ launch statement.
