No—Nintendo’s patent application does not confirm that system-wide achievements are coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The filing describes a proposed system that can use game achievement data to award points and make rewards available. It is a patent disclosure, not a product announcement or release plan.
What Nintendo’s patent describes
Publication US20250276246A1, assigned to Nintendo Co., Ltd. and published September 4, 2025, is titled “Information processing system, non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having information processing program stored therein, information processing method, and information processing apparatus.” The application describes a proposed mission-and-reward system that uses game achievement data. The publication record and description are available through Google Patents.

In the described system, missions are associated with game titles. A game application can report achievement information when a player meets a condition—for example, clearing a predetermined stage. The system can award points for satisfying game-related conditions, and those points can be exchanged for rewards. The patent also describes rewards tied to completing missions and rewards that may become available directly after an achievement. The patent text includes the achievement-reporting description.
That is achievement-like functionality, but the application does not establish that it would be a console-wide trophy system, what games might support it, or how any implementation would work on Switch 2.

Does the filing mean Switch 2 is getting achievements?
No. A patent application records claimed and described ideas; by itself, it does not prove that Nintendo has built, approved, or plans to release the system. The filing does not announce Switch 2 compatibility, a launch date, or a commitment to add achievements.
Switch 2 is an existing product: Nintendo’s 2025 investor notice said the console would launch on June 5, 2025. But that notice provides product context only; it does not connect the console to the patent proposal. Nintendo’s investor notice and its U.S. patent-marking page do not announce this feature.

How the proposal relates to My Nintendo
Nintendo already operates My Nintendo, where members can complete missions and earn points. Nintendo’s support overview says missions can relate to My Nintendo or smart-device applications, and points can be redeemed for Nintendo-themed rewards. Nintendo’s My Nintendo overview explains that existing program.
| Aspect | Patent proposal | My Nintendo overview |
|---|---|---|
| Mission source | Missions associated with game titles; a game can report achievement data when a condition is met. Google Patents | Missions related to My Nintendo or smart-device applications. Nintendo Support |
| What players can earn | Points for satisfying game-related conditions, along with rewards associated with mission completion or an achievement. Patent text | Points, including Platinum Points, that can be redeemed for Nintendo-themed rewards. Nintendo Support |
| Confirmed connection to Switch 2 | Not established by the application. | Not stated on the cited overview. |
The resemblance is useful context: both involve missions and rewards. The cited official overview does not link My Nintendo to the patent, however, and it does not say the patent’s proposed mechanics are coming to Switch 2.

What to watch for next
Confirmation would need to come from Nintendo—for example, an announcement that identifies the feature, supported games, and availability. Until then, the accurate description is that Nintendo filed a patent application for a system involving game missions, achievement data, points, and rewards. Whether any version will reach Switch 2 remains unconfirmed.
