Nintendo’s 18 June 2024 Direct focused on Nintendo Switch games, with an emphasis on releases planned for the second half of that year. Nintendo said beforehand that the presentation would not cover the Switch successor, and its official video description repeated: “There will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.” The roughly 40-minute showcase included new games, release-date announcements, updates and Nintendo Switch Online library additions.
Was there Switch 2 news in the June 2024 Nintendo Direct?
No. Nintendo’s description of its 18 June 2024 presentation explicitly said the Switch successor would not be mentioned. That describes this particular Direct, not Nintendo’s hardware plans or announcements at any later date.

Nintendo of America described the presentation as “around 40 minutes”; that was the announced approximate duration, not an independently measured runtime. Its focus was Switch games coming in the second half of 2024, though the showcase also included some titles dated for 2025.
The biggest Nintendo-published game announcements
The headline games ranged from a new Zelda adventure to the return of Metroid Prime. These are the dates Nintendo announced at the time; the 2024 and 2025 dates have since passed.

|---|---|---|
| The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom | Zelda uses the Tri Rod to create “echoes” of objects and creatures, which she can use to explore, solve puzzles and fight. Nintendo UK’s official game page describes the premise and gives the release date. | 26 September 2024 |

Those later page details should not be mistaken for information Nintendo had already announced in June 2024. | 2025, as stated at the Direct |
Partner and third-party games in the presentation
The Direct was not limited to Nintendo-published games. Nintendo of America’s official video description lists partner and multiplatform releases alongside first-party titles. Notable examples included:
- FANTASIAN Neo Dimension and Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, role-playing games.
- Stray and Tales of the Shire, among the third-party games shown.
- Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, a collection of courtroom-adventure games.
- DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake, FAIRY TAIL 2 and Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero.
- MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, Darkest Dungeon II and LEGO Horizon Adventures.
The full segment list also named Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, MIO: Memories in Orbit, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports, Farmagia, Funko Fusion, THE NEW DENPA MEN, METAL SLUG ATTACK RELOADED, Just Dance 2025 Edition and The Hundred Line – Last Defense Academy. The list reflects what appeared in the presentation; it does not mean every title was a new game announcement or a Nintendo-published release.

Release dates, updates and other announcements
Games with a date or preorder mention
Nintendo UK’s recap said Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD would arrive on 27 June 2024 and included it in its preorder section. The same preorder list named Darkest Dungeon II, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition and Ace Attorney Investigations Collection. The Direct also featured DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake and other forthcoming partner games.
Updates and catalogue additions
Not every segment introduced a new standalone game. Nintendo highlighted a basketball update for Nintendo Switch Sports, as well as updates for Disney Illusion Island and Among Us. The presentation also included additions to the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance Nintendo Classics libraries for Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo UK’s recap described some of these items as available immediately at the time of the event.

How to read the announcements today
The Direct is a historical snapshot, not a current release calendar. Its announced launch dates for 2024 and 2025 have passed, and those dates alone do not establish a game’s current price, retailer stock or availability in a particular region. For a current Switch release date, Nintendo UK’s Metroid Prime 4: Beyond page lists 4 December 2025; consult the relevant regional Nintendo page for local product details.
The sources also reflect different territories: the event recap is from Nintendo UK, while the full video description is from Nintendo of America. For instance, Nintendo UK’s Metroid page lists a Nintendo Switch Game Card format, but that page is not evidence of physical-edition availability in every market.
