Nintendo published the Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD overview trailer on June 20, 2024, one week before the game launched for Nintendo Switch on June 27. The game is now available, and the trailer highlights its return to Evershade Valley, mansion investigations, ghost-catching puzzles and co-op ScareScraper mode.
When did the trailer appear, and when did the game launch?
Nintendo publicized the overview trailer on June 20, 2024, ahead of the June 27, 2024 Nintendo Switch release. Nintendo’s announcement at the time said, “Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD launches on Nintendo Switch June 27.” Both dates have passed; this is a look back at the pre-release trailer, not an upcoming launch announcement. Nintendo’s June 20 announcement and the official overview-trailer page list the timing.
What does the trailer show about the game?
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD revisits the Nintendo 3DS adventure on Switch with enhanced HD visuals, updated controls and other improvements described by Nintendo. The story takes Luigi to Evershade Valley after the Dark Moon breaks apart, leaving its ghosts unruly. He must explore haunted locations and recover the shards.
Mission-based mansion exploration
The adventure takes Luigi through five distinct mansions in a series of missions. Players investigate rooms, solve puzzles, search for Dark Moon shards and use the Poltergust 5000 to capture ghosts, illuminate dark areas and examine their surroundings. The trailer’s overview presents these activities as the core of the game rather than a single uninterrupted mansion crawl. Play Nintendo’s trailer page and its launch coverage describe the adventure.
