Hazard is a Tank in Overwatch 2, but he is no longer a newly released hero: Blizzard introduced him with Season 14 in December 2024. His kit combines spike attacks, frontal protection, a lunge, a placeable wall and climbing mobility. Blizzard identifies his given name as Findlay and ties him to the Phreaks, a group he describes as a found family.
Who is Hazard in Overwatch 2?
Blizzard’s official Hazard profile names him Findlay, lists his age as 24 and his date of birth as November 11, and gives Glasgow, Scotland (formerly) as his base of operations. The profile describes the Phreaks as a found family of body modifiers. Hazard grew up poor, with a deceased mother and an absent, unkind father; he later used advanced augmentations to increase his strength and agility.
Blizzard called Hazard the game’s first Scottish hero in its Season 14 announcement. The announcement associates him with the Phreaks’ punk ethos and frames the faction as fighting oppression. That is Blizzard’s promotional characterization, rather than an independent assessment of the group or its politics.
What are Hazard’s abilities?
Blizzard classifies Hazard as a Tank. His listed abilities bring together ranged spikes, defense, movement and tools for controlling space:
#1 Best Overall
- Bonespur: Fires a burst of spikes.
- Spike Guard: Protects Hazard from frontal damage, fires homing spikes at nearby enemies and regenerates ammunition.
- Violent Leap: Launches him forward; activating it again lets him slash enemies and knock them back.
- Jagged Wall: Sends out a spiked wall that damages and knocks back nearby enemies.
- Downpour: Rains spikes that immobilize enemies.
- Vault: Lets him climb short walls and grab ledges.
How does Hazard play?
Blizzard describes his intended style as a momentum-driven mix of dive and brawl. In the developer’s gameplay article, Violent Leap and Vault are presented as ways to reach vulnerable backline opponents and return to the frontline. This explains the design intent; it does not establish how effective Hazard is in the current competitive meta.
Mobility and engagement
Violent Leap gives Hazard a forward lunge and a follow-up slash, while Vault helps him scale short walls and grab ledges. Together, the abilities give him routes over obstacles as well as a way to close distance. Blizzard’s design description emphasizes using that mobility to move between the frontline and exposed opponents.

Blocking and space control
Spike Guard offers protection against frontal damage while firing back at nearby enemies. Jagged Wall adds an obstacle that can damage and knock back opponents who touch it. Blizzard says the wall can attach to surfaces, including walls and ceilings, letting Hazard alter how opponents move through an area. Downpour supplies an area attack that damages and roots enemies, according to the developer article.
