Overwatch 2 Season 10 began on April 16, 2024. The launch update added Damage hero Venture, a limited-time Clash trial on Hanaoka, Mythic Prisms for Mythic skin progression, and changes to hero access, Battle Pass rewards, and Competitive play. Blizzard also released a separate follow-up patch on April 30 with balance adjustments and bug fixes.
When did Overwatch 2 Season 10 start?
Blizzard released the Season 10 retail update on April 16, 2024. Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed the date in an April 9 preview, writing: “We can’t wait to see all of you jump into Season 10, which begins April 16.” Blizzard’s April 2024 patch archive lists the launch patch on April 16; Keller’s preview is Director’s Take: Welcoming Venture to Overwatch.
What changed in the Season 10 launch patch?
Venture joined the roster
Venture, a new Damage hero, became available with the launch patch and was immediately eligible for Competitive Play. Blizzard’s season overview also said existing and future heroes would be unlocked for players who completed the new-player experience. Clash arrived as a limited-time Hanaoka trial
The launch patch opened a trial of Clash on Hanaoka, built around five objectives arranged in a linear, mirrored map. Only one objective was active at a time. A team won by capturing five objectives or by taking the final objective on the opposing side. The trial ran through April 29, 2024, so it is a historical event rather than a currently available mode. The April patch archive contains the trial’s rules and dates.

Battle Pass rewards and Mythic skins changed
Blizzard moved Overwatch Coins from Weekly Challenges into the Battle Pass, where up to 600 Overwatch Coins were available through the pass. Season 10 also introduced Mythic Prisms, a currency for unlocking and upgrading Mythic skins. The season’s featured Mythic skin was Vengeance Mercy. These were changes to progression and rewards, not separate gameplay modes. Blizzard’s Season 10 overview outlines the reward changes.
Competitive systems received updates
Season 10 added the ability to purchase Golden Weapons with 2024 Competitive Points, introduced Wide Groups to support players with substantially different skill levels queueing together, and updated penalties for leaving games. Blizzard also highlighted changes to Competitive and Defense Matrix systems in its season overview.

What was in the April 30 update?
The April 30 entry was a follow-up patch, separate from the April 16 launch notes. It increased the Damage-role passive’s healing reduction, adjusted Orisa, and reduced Venture’s damage and ultimate efficiency, alongside bug fixes. For Venture specifically, Drill Dash’s initial impact damage fell from 40 to 30, and Tectonic Shock’s ultimate charge cost increased by 10%. These values are the April 30 balance changes, not the hero’s launch-day tuning. Blizzard’s April 2024 patch archive lists both dated entries.
What did Blizzard announce before launch?
In his April 9 preview, Keller discussed planned tuning for Venture, Wrecking Ball, Junker Queen, Reinhardt, Sombra, Tracer, Moira, Lucio, Illari, and Lifeweaver. Those remarks were pre-release context; the April live patch notes are the source for changes confirmed as shipped. For example, Keller previewed an increase to Illari’s Secondary Fire healing from 105 to 115 HPS, but that preview figure should not be treated by itself as confirmation of the final live value. What other Season 10 events were included?
Season 10 also featured Mirrorwatch, a limited-time event Blizzard said would run from April 23 through May 13, 2024. Like the Clash trial, those dates have passed; the season overview’s event details are available in Blizzard’s Season 10 overview.
