Sombra also changes from Damage to Support. Blizzard has not announced a Season 5 rework for Lifeweaver.
How the shortlist became a two-hero announcement
On April 10, 2026, Blizzard described Sombra, Lifeweaver, and Roadhog as an “extremely early shortlist” of heroes being considered for reworks, adding that the list was subject to change. That was an indication of possibilities, not a commitment to rework all three. Blizzard’s April 10 Director’s Take
Blizzard later confirmed that Sombra and Roadhog would receive major reworks in Season 5, which begins October 6, 2026. The announcement also specified Sombra’s move from Damage to Support. Blizzard’s BlizzCon announcement
What is changing for Sombra?
Sombra’s rework changes both her role and her abilities. Blizzard’s Season 5 overview describes a Support kit built around healing allies and weakening enemies:
#1 Best Overall
- Hotfix: A brief-cast heal aimed at an ally. Sombra can use it while Invisible without immediately breaking stealth.
- Cyberspace: Creates an area that heals allies and applies Weaken to enemies.
- Weaken: The official live patch-note summary says this effect halves affected enemies’ damage and healing output.
The live patch-note summary also says Hack was removed. These are Season 5 details, not earlier rework concepts or speculation. Blizzard’s Season 5 overview · Blizzard’s live patch notes
What is changing for Roadhog?
Blizzard says Roadhog’s Scrap Gun fires two bursts per volley, with a stronger center projectile in each burst. His new ability, Trash Compactor, absorbs incoming enemy projectiles and returns an explosive shot. The returned shot’s damage scales with the punishment absorbed. This is Blizzard’s description of the Season 5 kit, not a claim based on independent balance testing. Blizzard’s Season 5 overview

Is Lifeweaver getting reworked?
Lifeweaver was included on the April tentative shortlist, but Blizzard’s Season 5 announcement named Sombra and Roadhog—not Lifeweaver—as the rework pair. The available announcements do not establish whether Lifeweaver might receive a rework in a later season.
Blizzard’s June 30 patch notes did include Lifeweaver adjustments in a special, time-limited Arcade mode, running June 30 through July 13. That mode changed heroes in response to creator requests; it was not an announcement of a permanent main-game rework. Blizzard’s June 30 patch notes
