- Which split-screen player slot is affected, and the name shown in-game, including any guest label or “(1)” suffix.
- Whether that player’s inventory and location match what they expect from their individual account.
A Mojang staff comment dated January 15, 2026, asked affected players to provide a copy of the world save where the split-screen inventory issue occurred and described ways to obtain a copy on supported devices. That was a request to help investigate, not a general repair procedure; follow current official guidance before sharing a world save.

The issue record does not establish a verified workaround that fixes the problem across platforms. It also does not show that signing out, reinstalling the game, or buying a controller or other hardware resolves it. Because the reports concern account identity and player data in a software service, a physical accessory is not a substantiated remedy.

If the affected player’s data appears wrong, avoid treating the guest profile as the correct account until you have checked the identity and world data.
