No official PlayStation notice reviewed announces that all PS4 servers will shut down on November 6. That date may refer to a particular game or online feature, but the claim does not identify one. A game-specific closure is not the same as taking PS4-wide online services offline.
What the November 6 claim means—and what it doesn’t establish
The wording “PS4 servers shutting down on November 6” is too broad to verify as a specific service change without knowing which game, feature, region, or announcement it refers to. The official PlayStation information available at PlayStation’s important notice does not announce a PS4-wide shutdown on that date. That does not rule out a separate November 6 change for an individual game or service.
PS4-wide services and individual game servers are different
PlayStation’s terms of service say that “Online services are not provided for ever.” They also say PlayStation will provide advance notice when it decides to shut down an online service, and ask third-party game publishers to give advance notice for their games. A publisher’s closure of one game’s online features therefore should not be described as all PS4 servers shutting down.
PlayStation’s game-server support listing reports game-specific changes, including the closure of Gran Turismo Sport online services. It illustrates why shutdown notices need to be checked against the title named in the announcement.

What happens to games and purchases if a service ends?
PlayStation’s important notice says players can continue playing content they already own, subject to each game’s existing online features and service availability. It also says previously purchased content will remain downloadable for the foreseeable future. Owning a game does not guarantee that its online modes will remain available if the game’s own service closes.
A separate PS4 service change with a stated date
The same notice says Trend Micro Kids Safety and Web Security services for safe browsing on PS4 are scheduled to end on August 25, 2027, and new purchases will end on August 25, 2026. Those dates apply to the named services, not to PS4-wide online play.

How to check whether a particular game is affected
- Identify the title or feature. Check the original post or notice for the game name, online mode, region, and year associated with November 6.
- Check the publisher’s announcement. For third-party games, look for a notice from the game’s publisher, since PlayStation’s terms ask publishers to provide advance notice of their own game-service shutdowns.
- Check PlayStation’s game-server support listing. Compare the title against PlayStation’s game-server status page and read the listed scope and date carefully.
- Distinguish online features from access to the game itself. A server closure can remove online modes or other connected features without meaning that every PS4 console, game, or previously purchased download becomes unavailable.
