NeverSink’s Path of Exile 2 item filter is a prominent, customizable way to make loot easier to scan. Follow it through the official Path of Exile filter ladder for the simplest setup, or download the filter for manual installation on PC. Start with Semi-Strict if you are new: stricter levels hide more items, and the maintainer cautions against using Very Strict or higher while leveling.
What NeverSink’s filter does
NeverSink’s filter is a script that uses Path of Exile 2’s official item-filter language—not a standalone mod. It changes how drops are presented, using colors, sounds, map icons and beams to help distinguish items. The maintainer provides seven strictness levels, from Soft to Uber-Plus-Strict.
It is a strong, feature-rich option, but available evidence does not establish an objective “best” filter for every player. The right strictness depends on your character’s progression and what drops you still want to see.
Which strictness should you choose?
Strictness is a progression setting, not a score of filter quality: higher levels hide more items. NeverSink recommends Semi-Strict for beginners and advises against Very Strict or above during leveling unless your character is already equipped for that phase. If you are uncertain, begin at Semi-Strict and tighten the filter only when you know which categories you no longer need.

- Soft or Semi-Strict: show more drops and are safer while learning or leveling.
- Strict and above: consider moving tighter as visible drops become less useful.
- Very Strict or higher: use cautiously during leveling; these levels may hide items your character still needs.
Before tightening the filter, consider whether you still need build-critical item bases, useful currency or unidentified uniques. A current independent guide suggests Regular or Semi-Strict during the campaign and early maps, then tightening as appropriate; its client verification is marked pending, so treat that progression advice as general guidance rather than a confirmed in-game test.
Install it by following the official filter
If you do not need to change its visual style or rules, following the public filter is the lowest-effort option. NeverSink describes the process as one click; the account-linked filter can then be selected in the game. The official listing surfaced as updated September 14, 2026, but the listing page itself requires JavaScript, so its current details may be difficult to verify outside the site.

- Open the official Path of Exile item-filter ladder and make sure it is set to Path of Exile 2, not Path of Exile 1.
- Find and follow NeverSink’s PoE 2 filter.
- Restart the game if needed, then open Options > Game > Item Filter and select the followed filter.
The menu path is also described by a current independent guide, whose client verification is pending; menu labels may change between game updates.
Customize it with FilterBlade
FilterBlade, NeverSink’s companion site, lets you preview and customize the filter’s appearance and rules for your preferences or build, then download the result. Choose this route if the standard presentation does not show or style items the way you want. NeverSink also mentions a paid FilterBlade auto-updater, but its current price is not established here; the filter itself is described as free.

Install a downloaded filter file on PC
Manual installation is useful if you want a local file, including a customized download. NeverSink documents placing the extracted NeverSinks Litefilter.filter directly in the game’s filter folder. Do not put it in the onlinefilters subfolder or another nested folder.
- Download the current Path of Exile 2 filter release from NeverSink’s PoE 2 filter repository.
- Extract the downloaded archive.
- Open the game’s filter folder. On Windows, the documented location is
%userprofile%DocumentsMy GamesPath of Exile 2. On Linux through Steam, the documented path issteamapps/compatdata/2694490/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Path of Exile 2. - Copy
NeverSinks Litefilter.filterdirectly into that folder, not intoonlinefilters. - In game, open Escape > Options > Game > Filters and select the filter. If the game provides a folder button beside the item-filter control, it can help open the correct local folder.
Keep the filter current and check uncertain drops
A GitHub-downloaded file does not update automatically. NeverSink recommends downloading a fresh version at least once per league, preferably monthly. Account-follow filters are described by the maintainer as auto-updating, though no exact update schedule is established.

Filters also cannot distinguish between different unique items that share the same base. For example, a unique leather belt’s value depends on which unique it is, not just its base type, so inspect relevant drops rather than assuming the filter has appraised each item. NeverSink notes that drops needing a manual check may have a blue minimap icon.
