Was that the original launch date?
Yes. The Pokémon Company International’s Australia and New Zealand announcement, published May 28, 2025, said the game would be available to play on October 16, 2025. Nintendo UK also lists October 16, 2025, including for the Nintendo Switch Game Card edition. The original launch date has passed, so these times are a record of the historical digital release, not a countdown to an upcoming launch.
The Pokémon Company International’s release-date announcement and Nintendo UK’s game listing confirm the date.

#1 Best Overall
- Your journey will take you to all manner of sights in the streets arrayed around Prism Tower, including shops, restaurants, and places called wild zones—where Pokémon roam free.
- As you catch, train, and battle Pokémon, there will be plenty of people to meet too—like AZ, the enigmatic owner of Hotel Z.
Did the Switch 2 Edition have a different release time?
The announcement describes both the Nintendo Switch version and a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, but it does not give different launch times for the editions. The Switch 2 Edition offers improved graphics and frame rates. Players who own the Switch software can upgrade by purchasing an upgrade pack; the edition distinction does not change the historical schedule above.
A separate physical bundle is planned for October 29, 2026: the Switch 2 Edition plus the Mega Dimension DLC, with both included on one game card. This is a later bundle, not the original release. The Pokémon Company International says owners who already have the Switch 2 Edition need only purchase the DLC separately. See the official bundle announcement.
