The Pokémon Presents on July 22, 2025, put Pokémon Legends: Z-A and the newly announced Pokémon Champions at the center of its game news. It also revealed Pokémon Friends, a Mega Evolution Pokémon TCG expansion, a 2027 Aardman stop-motion series, and updates across several existing games. Here is what the presentation announced, with release windows kept in their 2025 context.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A brings its story to Lumiose City
Nintendo’s July 23, 2025 recap said Pokémon Legends: Z-A was scheduled to launch on October 16, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. That was the release date announced at the time, not a statement about present-day availability.
The game takes place in Lumiose City, where a redevelopment project aims to make the city a place for people and Pokémon alike. The player arrives as a visitor and chooses one of three first partners: Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile. Designated wild zones provide spaces for Pokémon to live within the city.
Explore by day, compete by night
The presentation framed the city around a day-and-night rhythm. By day, players can explore Lumiose and its wild zones, where they may encounter powerful Alpha Pokémon. Nintendo’s July 22 announcement described Alpha Pokémon as larger than usual, red-eyed, powerful, and difficult to catch.

At night, players can enter the Z-A Royale, battle other Trainers, and work their way up through ranks. The announcement also showed detective Emma’s requests, assistance for Mable at the Pokémon Research Lab, encounters with Rogue Mega Evolution Pokémon, and Mega Dragonite.
Battle mechanics and the preorder bonus announced in 2025
The Pokémon Company said battles use real-time movement and command timing. Mega Shards and Mega Stones are part of the Mega Evolution system described in the announcement.
Physical-version preorders were announced to begin July 23, 2025. The announcement also described an early-purchase Mystery Gift: a Ralts holding a Gardevoirite, available until February 28, 2026, subject to the stated conditions. Those dates have passed, so the bonus should be understood as a historical offer, not a current claim that it can still be obtained.
Pokémon Champions was announced for 2026
Pokémon Champions was announced as a battle-focused game planned for 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. The July recap described Ranked, Casual, and Private battles, with both single and double battle formats.

Players could temporarily recruit Pokémon for trial use or recruit them permanently with Victory Points. Victory Points could also be used to train Pokémon and adjust their stats and Abilities. These are details from the July 2025 presentation and its recap; the announced 2026 window is not a current release-status update.
In a later update on August 18, 2025, Nintendo said Pokémon Champions would be used for the Pokémon Video Game Championships at the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. That announcement came after the July presentation.
Pokémon Friends launched on the day of the presentation
Pokémon Friends was announced as available that day for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Players solve Pokémon-themed brainteasers to earn yarn, then use it in the Plush-O-Matic to make collectible in-game plush. Nintendo said the game was developed with Wonderfy Inc. and included more than 1,200 puzzles.

Mega Evolution returned to the Pokémon TCG
The presentation announced the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution expansion, then scheduled for September 26, 2025. Cards shown included Mega Lucario ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex, and Mega Gardevoir ex. The showcase also featured connected artwork with Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Mega Venusaur ex.
The announced date is historical. The recap does not establish present-day stock, prices, or collectible market value.
The 2025 Pokémon World Championships were set for Anaheim
The recap noted that the 2025 Pokémon World Championships were scheduled for August 15–17 in Anaheim, California. It also showed Paradise Resort promo card artwork and said the card would be for competitors while supplies lasted. These details refer to the announced 2025 event.

The Pokémon Company and Aardman announced Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, a stop-motion animated series planned for 2027. The presentation described the collaboration as bringing together Aardman’s character work, comedy, and craft.

Pokémon Concierge was also among the properties covered in the recap, but the presentation summary did not give a new release date or episode count for it.
Existing Pokémon games also received updates
The presentation included updates or experiences for several existing games, without the recap detailing every change. The titles named were:
- Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet
- Pokémon GO
- Pokémon Sleep
- Pokémon UNITE
- Pokémon Masters EX
- Pokémon Café ReMix
Because the official recap names these games without specifying all the individual additions, it does not support attributing a particular feature to the July presentation.
