Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and Scarlet & Violet—White Flare are companion Pokémon TCG expansions centered on Pokémon first discovered in Unova. They are two distinct expansions with separate card pools—not one interchangeable set. Pokémon announced an English expansion launch of July 18, 2025; the two six-pack Booster Bundles followed on August 22, 2025.
What are Black Bolt and White Flare?
They are paired expansions in the Scarlet & Violet Pokémon TCG series. Pokémon’s UK showcase describes separate card pools whose combined contents include every Pokémon first discovered in Unova. That makes the set distinction relevant when checking a card list or choosing a matching product: a Pokémon featured in one expansion is not automatically in the other.
These are expansions, not simply two names for a single pool of cards. The official materials describe each with its own featured Pokémon and corresponding products.
Which Pokémon are featured in each expansion?
| Expansion | Featured Pokémon and evolution lines |
|---|---|
| Black Bolt | Snivy and its evolutions through Serperior ex; Zekrom ex; and Meloetta ex. |
| White Flare | Tepig and Oshawott, evolving to Emboar and Samurott; Reshiram ex; and Keldeo ex. |
Pokémon’s official US Booster Bundle page also points to full-art illustrations of the featured Pokémon and premium parallel cards with Poké Ball patterns. The named Pokémon are highlights, not a complete checklist of either expansion.

When did the expansions and bundles launch?
Pokémon’s UK showcase gave July 18, 2025 as the English launch date for the two expansions. A separate Pokémon US product page scheduled the Booster Bundles for August 22, 2025. The latter is the date for those bundles, not a revised date for the expansions.
What products were announced?
- Booster Bundles: A separate bundle for each expansion, with six booster packs in each, according to Pokémon’s US product page.
- Binder Collections: A set-specific collection for each expansion; Pokémon’s UK gallery lists five booster packs in each collection.
- Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes: Pokémon’s UK product gallery names an Elite Trainer Box for each expansion.
Those pages establish product formats and package contents as announced, but do not establish current stock, prices, or resale value.

How should collectors choose between them?
Start with the expansion-specific card pool: choose Black Bolt for its featured Snivy-to-Serperior line, Zekrom ex, or Meloetta ex, and White Flare for its Tepig and Oshawott lines, Reshiram ex, or Keldeo ex. If you want sealed product, check that the package matches the expansion you intend to collect. The official information identifies what each contains, but does not establish which is better value, easier to complete, or more desirable.
