Prospecting’s enchants are randomized upgrades for your equipped pan, applied at the Mysterious Altar with ore or through an enchant book. There is no established official “best” enchant: a 2025 Pro Game Guides tier list puts Cosmic and Prismatic at the top, but the right choice depends on whether you value luck, capacity, processing, size, or selling—and published stat lists conflict. Check the values shown in your current game before spending rare materials.
How Prospecting enchants work
Enchanting is an in-game upgrade that spends rare materials to apply a random stat bonus. Pro Game Guides’ guide, updated September 2, 2025, describes the Mysterious Altar process for pans and says enchant books can also be used from inventory on the equipped pan. A separate fan guide says shovels can be enchanted too; that broader gear claim is not confirmed by the pan-focused process description.
Apply an enchant at the Mysterious Altar
- Obtain Aurorite or Aetherite, the ores described as altar reagents by Pro Game Guides.
- Go to the Mysterious Altar near town, between Fortune River and Rubble Creek.
- Equip the pan you want to upgrade before interacting with the altar. The guide says the currently equipped pan receives the enchant.
- Interact with the altar and spend the ore. The guide describes the resulting enchant as random.
Use an enchant book
Pro Game Guides says books can be bought from the Traveling Merchant and used from inventory on the equipped pan. Its September 2025 guide reports that the merchant appeared randomly in a major area at XX:45 each hour and that books usually cost 50M–200M. Those schedule and price details are dated claims, not verified current values; check the merchant and in-game price before planning around them.
Which enchant should you choose?
“Best” depends on your target stat, pan, and progression. The following is Pro Game Guides’ September 2025 tier list, not an official ranking or a verified assessment of the current live build. The guide explains that flat bonuses may matter less as stronger pans and crafted-item stats become available.

The guide also describes Boosting and Unstable as options for size- and modifier-oriented builds, but does not place them in the tier grouping above. Use the guide’s ranks as one reference point, then match the effect to what you want from a pan:
- Rare-find attempts and larger loads: prioritize luck or capacity. The guide highlights Divine and Blessed in this context.
- Faster or stronger sediment processing: look at shake speed or shake strength; the guide calls attention to Destructive and Forceful.
- Size and modifier-focused builds: consider effects such as Titanic, Boosting, and Unstable, as described by the guide.
- Income from selling: Midas is the guide’s sell-boost option.
- Progression fit: weigh the enchant against your current pan and whether you value active processing or the sale value of results. A flat bonus may be more or less useful as your gear improves.
Why published enchant stats do not match
Available guides disagree on the number of enchants and on several values, so their tables should not be combined into a single definitive list. The fan-made Prospecting Wiki, crawled October 8, 2026, says it covers 15 pan enchants. Its visible entries include Gigantic at +40 Capacity, Glowing at +0.25 Shake Speed, Greedy at +20% Sell Boost, and Titanic at +20% Size Boost and +25 Capacity. Pro Game Guides’ September 2025 table instead lists Gigantic at +50 Capacity, Glowing at +25% Shake Speed, Greedy at +25% Sell Boost, and Titanic at +20% Size Boost and +30 Capacity. The same 2025 guide also includes Cosmic, Prismatic, Infernal, and Divine as special or Aetherite-related rolls.

Other visible wiki entries are Strong (+20 Capacity), Swift (+0.1 Shake Speed), Forceful (+2 Shake STR), Destructive (+5 Shake STR), Lucky (+5 Luck), Blessed (+25 Capacity and +10 Luck), and Boosting (+10% Size Boost). These are wiki-listed figures, not an authoritative live-build table. No official current enchant table or developer drop-rate publication is established by the cited sources. Treat exact effects, counts, and probabilities as version-sensitive and verify them in-game.

Pro Game Guides recommends Fortune River for farming Aurorite and suggests saving it for the Meteoric Pan or more expensive pans, because the guide says Aurorite costs more than many early- and mid-game pans. That is the guide’s strategy recommendation, not a game rule. Compare the cost of the ore with the value of the pan you are upgrading and confirm current acquisition details in-game.
