Bandai Namco released Project CARS – Pagani Edition as a free PC download on Steam on October 28, 2016. SteamDB now reports that the app has been retired and is no longer available on the Steam store. That changes the old “Available Now for Free” headline: it describes the 2016 launch, not a current offer.
Can you still download Project CARS – Pagani Edition?
The publisher announced the free digital release for PC through Steam in 2016. SteamDB’s listing, last updated March 10, 2026, says the app has been retired and is no longer available on the Steam store. Steam’s current DLC page also displays no results. Bandai Namco’s launch announcement and the SteamDB app record establish the original release and current store status, respectively.

The available evidence does not establish whether people who claimed the game previously can still install or play it, or whether an authorized alternative download exists. Do not treat an unofficial download as an authorized copy.
What was included in the Pagani Edition?
Bandai Namco described the edition as a compact Pagani-focused release with five cars and three track locations:

The announcement also says the game had two modes, but it does not name them. It does not establish that this edition included the full Project CARS game.
Did it support VR and 4K?
At launch, the publisher advertised support for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, as well as 4K screens and conventional displays. These are features described in the 2016 announcement; they should not be read as confirmation of present-day compatibility with current headsets, operating systems, or hardware. SteamDB lists Windows as the supported system for the app.

Is it available on GOG?
No GOG store release is established by the available listing. GOG’s Project CARS – Pagani Edition Dreamlist page invites users to vote for the game to come to GOG; it is a request page, not a download or store listing.

Bandai Namco’s announcement quoted Stephen Viljoen, then Game Director for Project CARS: “Collaborating with world-class auto-makers such as Pagani is a real thrill for any racing simulation developer.” It also quoted Pagani founder and chief designer Horacio Pagani: “I’ve always been thrilled by videogames, and Project CARS sums all the things that I love about cars: the passion and the experience.”
