Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is a visually rich, atmospheric puzzle-platform adventure whose appeal rests on the bond between Lana and Mui, a mysterious world, and puzzles built around observation and timing. Its officially described 6–8-hour campaign gives that compact journey a clear limit: the game’s beauty and story ambitions may leave some players wanting more, though whether it ends too soon is a matter of taste.
A cinematic journey through a changed world
Planet of Lana II follows Lana and her companion Mui across icy mountains, deep oceans and forgotten ruins as they investigate their planet’s past. The conflict grows from new technology that has altered Novo and the Dijinghala’s exploitation of resources; Lana and Mui are drawn in when Lana’s niece is caught up in it. Wishfully’s official site sets out the journey, while Xbox Wire’s story feature provides more context for the factions and stakes.

The storytelling continues the series’ distinctive approach: characters speak in a fictional language, with no spoken dialogue or subtitles translating it. The developers say the world and music carry the story, leaving room for players to interpret what they see. That makes atmosphere more than decoration; it is part of how the narrative works. Players who want explicit exposition and fully explained plot beats may find the approach less direct, while those happy to read gestures, environments and musical cues have more space to engage with the mystery.
How the puzzles and platforming work
The adventure combines environmental puzzles, platforming, stealth and exploration, with Lana and Mui working together to get past obstacles. Lana has expanded movement options, including wall jumps, and the puzzles ask players to observe the environment, coordinate actions and get the timing right. Nintendo’s official product description specifically frames the challenges around awareness, timing and cooperation rather than complex logic.

That distinction helps set expectations. This is not pitched as a dense logic-puzzle game; much of the engagement comes from noticing what the surroundings allow and using the characters’ abilities in sequence. Movement precision still matters, so players who enjoy deliberate platforming may find the rhythm satisfying, while those who dislike less crisp or more floaty-feeling jumps may be less comfortable. In its 8/10 review, GameSpot praised the distinct visual and sound identity of the levels, the compelling mystery and puzzles that build toward a stronger finale; it also found Lana’s jumps floaty, the opening slow to get going, and a lengthy underwater-puzzle sequence frustrating. Those are that outlet’s judgments, not guaranteed responses for every player.
How long is Planet of Lana II?
Published estimates put the campaign at about 6–8 hours. Xbox Wire gave that range in November 2025, and Microids’ PS5 product page, accessed October 8, 2026, calls it a “6–8 hour adventure.” Wishfully creative director Adam Stjärnljus gave GamesRadar a similar developer estimate of seven or eight hours. These are estimates, not a measured promise for every player; pace, exploration and time spent on puzzles can affect an individual run.
Stjärnljus told GamesRadar, “We didn’t set out to make a double-size game,” explaining that the sequel ran longer than expected and that content was cut to keep it “good and tight.” That context makes the short campaign look intentional rather than evidence that the developers were aiming for a sprawling sequel and fell short. It does not settle the question of whether the finished adventure feels complete: a concise, focused game can still leave players wishing its world had more room to unfold.

“Too soon” is the most subjective part of the verdict. The game’s hand-painted presentation, music, mystery and companion-focused puzzles give it a strong identity, but the official runtime is brief for a story that spans varied environments and has larger ambitions about Novo’s past. The tension is between concentrated pacing and the desire to spend more time in a world that makes a strong impression.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →GameSpot’s assessment suggests the experience builds toward a stronger finale, but its noted slow opening and extended underwater section show that a short total runtime does not automatically mean every stretch feels brisk. If you value a compact cinematic adventure and are comfortable with a story told largely through visual and musical cues, the length may feel appropriately focused. If you want a long campaign, highly complex puzzles or consistently precise-feeling platforming, the published runtime and the reported movement and pacing reservations are reasons to temper expectations.
Is it standalone, and where can you play?
Nintendo’s store describes Planet of Lana II as a standalone story, so newcomers can follow this adventure without first playing the original. Returning players may get additional context from the continuing world and Mui’s history, but prior knowledge is not presented as a requirement. The game launched March 5, 2026. Wishfully’s developer interview with Unity lists PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch systems. Nintendo’s US listing covers Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, and says Switch 2 compatibility is supported; check the relevant regional storefront for current availability and pricing.
For a physical PS5 option, Microids lists a Kindred Spirits Edition containing the game, an art book, three art cards, a sticker pack and a supporter pack. The product page is region-specific, and stock can change, so confirm the listing and availability before buying.
Verdict
Planet of Lana II is best suited to players who want a visually distinctive, atmospheric adventure with cooperative environmental puzzles rather than a long or mechanically demanding campaign. Its world, music and mystery make a strong case for the journey; its 6–8-hour estimate and some reported pacing and movement drawbacks explain why the experience may feel over before its setting has given up everything it promises. The short length is a real consideration, but not an objective flaw: for some players, it will make the adventure focused; for others, it will make the ending arrive too soon.
