Pokémon GO’s September 2024 Community Day featured both Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta. The Pokémon GO team announced the pair ahead of the event, which took place on Saturday, September 14, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
Which Pokémon did the September 2024 teaser point to?
The teaser pointed to Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta. The Pokémon GO team announced: “We’re excited to announce that Ponyta, the Fire Horse Pokémon, and Galarian Ponyta, the Unique Horn Pokémon, will be featured during September Community Day!” The official event announcement named both forms as featured Pokémon.
The two Pokémon appeared more frequently in the wild during the event. An earlier Community Day calendar announcement had already set September 14 as the date, with event details to follow.
When was the event, and what did evolving Ponyta unlock?
The main event ran Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Evolving either Ponyta or Galarian Ponyta during those hours—or within five hours afterward—gave the resulting Rapidash or Galarian Rapidash the Charged Attack Wild Charge. The announcement listed Wild Charge at 100 power in Trainer Battles and 90 power in Gyms and raids.

What bonuses and follow-up raids were included?
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- 3× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
- For Trainers level 31 and up, twice the chance to receive Candy XL from catches.
- Lure Modules and eligible Incense lasted three hours.
- Trainers could make one additional Special Trade that day, for up to two total, and trades cost 50% less Stardust.
Special four-star raids followed the main event, running from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. local time. Winning one caused additional Ponyta and Galarian Ponyta to appear around the Gym that hosted it for 30 minutes. Remote Raid Passes could not be used for these raids.
Were the ticket and bundles physical products?
No. The announcement described event-specific digital offers: a US$1 Special Research ticket, a US$4.99 Ultra Community Day Box, and in-game bundles priced at 1,350 and 480 PokéCoins. Those were limited-time offers associated with the 2024 event, not current offers or physical merchandise.

How does this fit the usual Community Day format?
Niantic’s Community Day Help Center page describes these events as limited windows when a featured Pokémon appears more frequently, sometimes alongside an exclusive evolution attack and event bonuses. Timing and bonuses can differ from one Community Day to another, so the September 2024 details apply specifically to this past event.
