NVIDIA’s GeForce Game Ready and Studio 595.59 WHQL drivers had a fan-control bug. The February 26, 2026 notice advised users who had installed 595.59 and were experiencing fan-control problems to roll back to 591.86 WHQL. NVIDIA later said it had resolved the issue and released 595.71 WHQL, so that rollback advice applies to the affected 595.59 release—not to every GeForce user today.
What happened with GeForce driver 595.59?
NVIDIA found a bug in both the Game Ready and Studio editions of driver 595.59 WHQL and temporarily removed their downloads while it investigated. The affected Game Ready driver was released to support Resident Evil Requiem’s path-traced effects, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 50 Series cards.

NVIDIA’s February 26 notice identified fan-control trouble as the symptom behind its rollback advice. It did not establish a failure rate, name particular affected graphics-card models, or report confirmed physical GPU damage. Read the NVIDIA announcement and its dated updates for the original guidance.
Should you roll back to 591.86?
Use the February rollback recommendation only if you installed 595.59 and are experiencing fan-control problems. NVIDIA’s exact advice was: “For users that have already installed this driver and are experiencing issues with fan control, please roll back to 591.86 WHQL.” If you did not install 595.59, or your issue is unrelated to fan control, that notice does not by itself call for a rollback.

- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
How to reinstall the previous driver in the NVIDIA App
- Open the NVIDIA App and select the Drivers tab.
- Open the three-dot menu for the driver and choose the option to reinstall the previous driver.
- Follow the app’s prompts to install 591.86 WHQL, the version NVIDIA named in its February notice.
If the previous-driver option is unavailable, check NVIDIA’s GeForce driver page for current download availability. Driver listings can change, so confirm the version and your operating system before installing.
What changed after the warning?
In an update dated March 2, 2026, NVIDIA said it had resolved the issue and released a new version of the Resident Evil Requiem Game Ready driver. The announcement identifies that replacement as 595.71 WHQL and says it can be downloaded through the NVIDIA App or GeForce.com. That is NVIDIA’s documented resolution of the 595.59 episode; check the driver page for current releases rather than assuming either version is still the latest.

Is the 595.76 Resident Evil Requiem issue the same bug?
No. NVIDIA’s later 595.76 hotfix listing describes a separate visual issue: white glowing lights or dots when subsurface scattering is enabled in Resident Evil Requiem. The 595.59 notice concerned fan control. A visual artifact matching the 595.76 listing should not be treated as evidence that the earlier fan-control bug has returned.

NVIDIA has listed GeForce NOW Ultimate as a way to play Resident Evil Requiem through cloud streaming on web-connected devices. That is an access alternative, not a repair for the 595.59 driver bug.
