What were Nintendo Today! and virtual game cards?
Nintendo Today!
Nintendo described Nintendo Today! as a free app for smart devices, requiring a Nintendo Account and compatible device. It was presented as a daily, calendar-like destination for Nintendo news, videos and comics. Nintendo said the app would become available on the App Store and Google Play later on March 27, 2025.
Virtual game cards
The feature was announced as a way to manage purchased digital games between Switch systems: a player could “eject” a game from one system and “load” it onto another, including a second system on the same account or a family-group member’s system. Nintendo also said a game could be lent to a family-group member over local wireless for two weeks, after which it would return automatically. Nintendo announced a system-update rollout in late April 2025 and support for Switch 2 at launch. These are the details announced at the event; they do not establish the feature’s current availability or terms.

How to interpret the release dates
- Exact calendar dates in the table are the dates Nintendo announced on March 27, 2025; “available” refers to that event day.
- “This year,” “late 2025,” and seasonal windows are intentionally left as Nintendo stated them at the time. They are not confirmation of present-day availability.
- The table reports the Switch-focused presentation. It does not establish every region’s availability, product editions, or later schedule changes.
- For current release information, check Nintendo or the relevant game publisher’s official page. The Nintendo UK recap also identifies selected same-day releases and preorders, but it is not a territory-by-territory current availability listing.
What kind of games did the Direct cover?
The lineup included RPGs, action adventures, rhythm games, farming and life simulations, visual novels, puzzle games, platformers, strategy and golf. It also included solo-focused adventures, local multiplayer modes and online play. Nintendo noted that some online features require a separately sold Nintendo Switch Online membership. There is no objective “best game” in the announcement alone: choosing between them depends on genre, play mode and whether a specific game’s current release status fits your plans.
