What is PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC?
Released on September 26, 2025, PAC-MAN WORLD 2 Re-PAC rebuilds the 2002 game as a modernized 3D platforming adventure. Pac-Man travels through six worlds to recover the Golden Fruit stolen by the Ghosts and stop Spooky. The remake is available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Steam, according to Bandai Namco. Nintendo lists the Switch version as compatible with Switch 2, and PlayStation lists the PS4 and PS5 editions with the same release date (Nintendo; PlayStation).
What has changed from the original?
Bandai Namco describes the remake as having significantly enhanced visuals, new and expanded levels, voice acting for the main characters, new gameplay mechanics, and updated and new boss battles. Pac-Man’s refreshed moves and activities include the Super Butt Bounce, an enhanced Flip Kick, Ice Skating, Snorkeling and Pac-Marine sections. The result is more than a visual update, but it retains the broad shape of an early-2000s 3D platform adventure: themed worlds, hazards, platforming challenges and boss encounters.
How does it play, and what are the main quirks?
The new features broaden the adventure, but they do not erase all of the old-fashioned design friction. Three named reviews point to specific rough edges; these are reviewers’ observations, not guarantees that every player will have the same experience.

Camera and level design
Nintendo Life’s Switch 2 review reports that a camera quirk in a boss arena caused its reviewer to fall off multiple times, and also notes changes to cutscenes and level design (Nintendo Life). Nintendo World Report’s Switch 2 review describes awkward camera controls and uneven level design, while saying that some reimagined areas improve on the original (Nintendo World Report). These criticisms matter most if you want consistently precise platforming or expect every stage to feel equally polished.
Pacing
On PS5, Push Square’s mini review says some early levels lack interesting set pieces and that stages can feel long (Push Square). That suggests the adventure may be less compelling when a stage’s theme or sequence of challenges does not hold your interest; it does not mean every level has the same pacing problem.

What modern features make it more approachable?
Fairy Mode
Fairy Mode is an optional accessibility feature intended to ease platform puzzles. Bandai Namco says it makes Pac-Man impervious to certain hazards and attacks, which can reduce the cost of mistakes during traversal without changing the fact that the game is built around platforming challenges (Bandai Namco’s feature announcement).
Two-player couch co-op
The remake adds two-player local co-op to the series. Nintendo lists one-to-two players for Switch and support for TV, tabletop and handheld play. It is a couch-play option, not an online multiplayer feature in the listed product information (Nintendo).

Arcade games and collectibles
Pac-Man’s village includes an arcade with the original PAC-MAN, PAC-ATTACK and PACMANIA. Earned coins can be spent at Gashapon machines for collectible figures. These extras give players diversions beyond the main platforming stages, rather than changing the core adventure (Bandai Namco).

Who should play it?
This remake is a good fit for players who want a bright, approachable platformer with familiar Pac-Man character appeal, extra activities, and the option to play locally with another person. Fairy Mode offers a less punishing route through some hazards and platform puzzles. Players who prioritize reliably clear camera behavior, consistently inventive stages or brisk pacing should weigh the attributed review complaints before buying. The named reviews cover Switch 2 and PS5; they do not establish that every platform behaves identically.
