This Piece of Cake walkthrough covers the side quest in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The quest becomes available during “A Needle in a Haystack” after you speak to Squint. The exact title also appears in connection with other games, so this guide applies only if you mean the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 quest.
How to start the Piece of Cake quest
During “A Needle in a Haystack,” speak to Squint to get the Piece of Cake task. GameLeap’s walkthrough, published November 29, 2024, describes the objective as finding an artifact in a cave and bringing it back to Squint. Read GameLeap’s quest walkthrough.

Find the artifact in the cave
- Enter the cave and use your detector as you explore.
- Follow the detector’s beeping; GameLeap says it leads you to the artifact near the end of the cave.
- Take the artifact once you find it.
Leave the cave and return to Squint
Retrace the route you used to enter. Climb the ladder to get back to the surface, then return to Squint at the top of the mill.
Choose what to do with the artifact
GameLeap describes two outcomes when you deal with Squint:

- Give Squint the artifact: You receive the Ward Sensor, which the guide says is needed to complete “A Needle in a Haystack.”
- Kill Squint and keep the artifact: You retain the artifact instead of handing it over.
GameLeap also describes a route intended to keep both rewards: hand over the artifact, wait for the quest to complete, then kill Squint and loot the artifact. This is a third-party guide’s account of the outcome, not an independently verified or official quest instruction.

The title alone is ambiguous. BrightestGames has an exact-title result called “Walkthrough Piece Of Cake,” but its available description does not establish which game it covers. A Steam Community video listing associates Piece of Cake with a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 side mission, but it does not independently confirm these quest steps. If your game is not S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, this walkthrough may not apply.
