For an AMD GPU crash, the developer documented Steam’s -dx11 launch option as a temporary workaround, with reduced graphical fidelity. If the crash continues, collect the game build and hardware details and contact the developer.
Why is Quarantine Zone: The Last Check crashing?
There is no single confirmed cause for every PC crash. Brigada Games’ official Steam updates identify several separate issues, including graphics-related crashes and crashes tied to particular menus or actions. The fixes are version-specific, so a crash on an older build may already have a patch; a crash that persists on a current build may have a different cause.
The developer’s July 15, 2026 update said it fixed multiple D3D12-related crashes, crashes involving the mathioscope, crashes during survivor inspection and sorting, an Endless Mode base-building UI crash, and a crash triggered by quickly skipping the tutorial. That update also moved the game from Unreal Engine 5.5 to 5.7. Later hotfixes addressed additional graphics issues. Read Brigada Games’ official Steam news and patch notes.
Try these fixes in order
- Update the game. Use the storefront where you own the game and install any available update. The official notes reviewed document crash-related patches through August 6, 2026; the latest build available to you may differ, so check the current update history.
- Match the crash to the patch notes. Note what you were doing when the game closed: for example, inspecting or sorting a survivor, opening the Endless Mode base-building UI, skipping the tutorial, or using a particular graphics feature. The update notes list fixes for specific cases, not a universal cure.
- If you have an AMD GPU, consider the temporary DirectX 11 option. In Steam, open Library, right-click Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, choose Properties, select General, and enter
-dx11in Launch Options. Brigada Games recommended this in its July 30, 2026 hotfix for the then-known AMD GPU crash issue and cautioned that it would reduce graphical fidelity. It was a temporary workaround, not a guaranteed fix for all crashes. - Compare your PC with the published requirements. Steam lists DirectX 12 and the following minimum and recommended specifications. Meeting them does not rule out a game bug.

These figures are from the game’s official Steam store listing. They describe the published minimum and recommended targets, not a guarantee that the game will run without crashing.

What the later hotfixes changed
Brigada Games’ July 30, 2026 hotfix said it fixed multiple crashes to desktop, while identifying AMD GPU crashes as a known issue and offering -dx11 as a temporary workaround. The August 3 hotfix reported more AMD-related GPU crash fixes and a fix for an FSR-upscaling crash regardless of GPU vendor. On August 6, the developer reported fixing a ray-tracing-related GPU crash and updating engine code that could potentially address hair rendering and another rendering-pipeline crash. The wording is qualified: these notes do not establish that every rendering crash was eliminated.

- Your GPU model and vendor, CPU, and Windows version.
- The game build, if visible, and when the crash occurs.
- Whether FSR, ray tracing, or a launch option such as
-dx11is enabled. - Relevant logs, save files, and a crash dump if available.
For GPU investigations, the developer has also described an open-test branch named gpu-debug-test and the -d3ddebug launch option to help collect DirectX 12 diagnostic information. That is a developer-requested diagnostic route, not a routine crash fix. Follow the instructions in the official Steam news post and put [DEBUG] in the email subject when submitting those materials.
