If Rainbow Six Siege keeps closing to the desktop without an error, the symptom alone does not reveal the cause. Start with reversible checks—restart the PC, update the game and launcher, and verify the game files—then follow the branch that matches your hardware or any BattlEye message. Ubisoft documents file-verification and anti-cheat repair options, while Intel has a Vulkan workaround specifically for some random crashes on Intel Arc graphics.
Work through the general checks first
- Restart the PC. This is a simple first check, not a diagnosis. Reopen the game and see whether the same crash returns.
- Update Rainbow Six Siege and its launcher. Ubisoft’s BattlEye FAQ lists using an updated game client among its troubleshooting steps. The FAQ dates to July 27, 2016, so use the current support instructions for your launcher rather than relying on old operating-system-specific details. Ubisoft Rainbow Six Siege Support provides current support paths.
- Verify the game files. Use the verification option in the launcher where you own or installed the game. Ubisoft’s support index includes file verification guidance; the exact UI path can depend on the launcher and current version, so follow the relevant live instructions at Ubisoft Support.
- Check for a graphics-driver update. Ubisoft’s BattlEye FAQ includes updating drivers as a troubleshooting step. Use the driver source for your GPU and note the current version before changing it, so you can report the configuration if the crash continues. Ubisoft’s FAQ and support guidance should take precedence over dated platform-specific suggestions.
If your PC uses Intel Arc graphics
Intel documents a specific workaround for random Rainbow Six Siege crashes during gameplay on the Windows 10/11 Intel Arc environment described in its support article: launch with Vulkan instead of DirectX 11. Intel’s article was last reviewed December 19, 2024, and describes crashes that may involve a black screen, buzzing, or a reboot. This is a targeted test for that Arc scenario, not a universal fix for silent crashes on other graphics hardware.
Intel’s stated resolution is: “Start the game using the Vulkan API instead of DirectX 11.” Follow Intel’s instructions for your setup at Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Crashes with Intel Arc Graphics. If the crash pattern does not resemble Intel’s described issue, do not assume Vulkan will address it.
If BattlEye appears in an error message
A named BattlEye error is a different clue from a crash that simply closes to desktop. Ubisoft’s BattlEye FAQ lists checking that the game client and drivers are updated, verifying game files, and investigating whether BattlEye files or services are blocked or damaged. Because the FAQ was published July 27, 2016, treat its older Windows-specific directions cautiously and use the current instructions for your game and launcher. See Ubisoft Rainbow Six Siege Support for the applicable repair or reinstall guidance.

For error code 0-0x00001001
Ubisoft describes this specific code as a lost connection with BattlEye. Its guidance is to restart the game and, if the problem continues, follow its connectivity troubleshooting. That code does not explain every error-free desktop crash. Consult Ubisoft’s instructions for error code 0-0x00001001.
Use crash timing to narrow the next step
Note exactly when the game closes: during launch, while entering a match, or after playing for a while. Also record whether the screen goes black, audio buzzes, the PC reboots, or Windows shows an error. These details help distinguish a game closing from the more specific Arc crash pattern Intel describes and from a BattlEye connection error. None of those symptoms alone proves a root cause.

If the crash continues
Gather a concise system and symptom record before contacting Ubisoft Support. Include:
- GPU model and graphics-driver version
- Windows version and game launcher
- Whether the crash happens at launch, match entry, or later in a session
- Any BattlEye code or message, plus relevant Windows Event Viewer or crash-report entries
- Whether other games are also failing
