Additional appearances and Shiny encounters
On both days, Porygon, Cyndaquil, Bagon, and Beldum could appear during the last ten minutes of each hour in the featured period: 2:50–3:00, 3:50–4:00, and 4:50–5:00 p.m. local time. Outside the main featured hours, any of the event’s featured Pokémon could also appear from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on either day. During the three-hour featured periods, event Pokémon had the same Shiny encounter chance as they did during their original Community Days; the announcement does not specify a numeric rate.
What bonuses were active?
Niantic separated the main featured-period bonuses from the benefits scheduled across a longer daily window. The announcement says most bonuses applied from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.; the listed extended-window benefits ran from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on December 21 and 22.

The event announcement spells Clodsire’s attack “Mega Horn”; that spelling is retained here rather than silently changing the source’s wording.
Community Day attacks are limited-time evolution moves. Pokémon GO’s Help Center says an exclusive attack may later be added to a Pokémon using an Elite TM; see What are Community Days?.

Which Pokémon were in 2 km Eggs?
The announcement said Pokémon highlighted in 2023 Community Day events could hatch from 2 km Eggs during the event. A Shiny hatch was possible, but Niantic did not publish a specific Shiny probability for this feature.
- Slowpoke and Galarian Slowpoke
- Poliwag and Togepi
- Wooper and Paldean Wooper
- Timburr, Axew, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Grubbin, and Noibat
What research and event features were available?
Timed Research
Timed Research available December 21 at 9:00 a.m. through December 22 at 9:00 p.m. local time could reward a Rainy Lure Module and Unova Stones. Trainers who logged in during that same window received continued Timed Research, which offered daily encounters with 2024 Community Day Pokémon with Special Backgrounds. Tasks and rewards had to be completed and claimed by January 4, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. local time. That deadline has passed, so the research is no longer claimable.

Field Research, Showcases, and community meetups
Field Research could lead to encounters with 2024 featured Pokémon. Rare Field Research obtained while teaming up with the community offered a chance of encounters with Special Backgrounds. PokéStop Showcases accepted Pokémon featured in 2024 Community Days. Event stickers were available from PokéStops, Gifts, and the in-game shop. The announcement also directed players to its Community Day map and Campfire to find local Trainers and meetups; it noted that parks listed as popular locations were informational and did not mean Niantic hosted events there.
A Special Background was an image related to the event, shown on a Pokémon’s summary page when that Pokémon was caught.
Is the paid Special Research ticket still available?
The optional event-exclusive Special Research ticket cost US$4.99 or the equivalent local pricing tier. It was a digital in-game purchase, not a physical product, and the event window has passed. Its listed rewards included a Rocket Radar, an Elite Charged TM, an Elite Fast TM, encounters with Pokémon featured in 2024 Community Days and Community Day Classics with Special Backgrounds, and other rewards. The ticket did not include an in-game medal. Tickets were nonrefundable subject to applicable law and the Terms of Service.
Why might event hours appear differently for a player?
Community Day is a location-based event scheduled by local time. Niantic’s Help Center warns: “Because Community Day is a location-based event, you may experience issues if your clock or GPS are inaccurate or fluctuate.” Its guidance is to check the official event announcement for the specific event’s bonuses and timing. The 2024 announcement also advised players to be aware of their surroundings and follow local health guidance while playing.
