The GeForce RTX 5060 can deliver solid 1080p performance, but its 8GB of VRAM is a real limitation in some demanding games. In TechSpot’s May 2025 review, it roughly matched the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 3070 across an 18-game test suite, yet suffered severe performance problems in select 1440p tests. That makes it a more convincing esports and 1080p card than a safe choice for demanding modern games.
What TechSpot tested—and what its results show
TechSpot published its review on May 22, 2025. Its results describe that review’s test system, games and settings; they are not a guarantee of performance in every PC or game. Across 18 games, the RTX 5060 was broadly level with the RTX 4060 Ti and RTX 3070 at both 1080p and 1440p.

These aggregate rankings can hide large differences between games. At 1080p, the card averaged 138 fps in Delta Force, 100 fps in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and 48 fps in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in TechSpot’s tests. Those figures show why the card may appeal for high-refresh esports and less demanding play, but they do not mean every demanding release will run smoothly.
Is the RTX 5060’s 8GB VRAM enough?
Not consistently for demanding games at high settings—particularly at 1440p. The capacity issue is more useful to consider as a game-and-setting limit than as a blanket verdict: some titles ran adequately in TechSpot’s suite, while others showed severe problems.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5060
- Integrated with 8GB GDDR7 128bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
- Stalker 2 at 1440p: TechSpot recorded only 6 fps. At 1080p, it averaged 47 fps.
- Oblivion Remastered at 1440p: The review reported 34 fps average and 18 fps 1% lows, indicating a much worse experience in the slowest moments than the average alone suggests.
- The Last of Us Part I at 1440p ultra: TechSpot observed inconsistent frame times.
These examples make the 8GB buffer the card’s most important trade-off. A strong average in one game does not erase the risk of texture or frame-time trouble in another, and lowering settings or resolution may be necessary in VRAM-heavy titles.
Ray tracing depends on the game—and on DLSS
TechSpot’s ray-tracing results varied substantially by title. The review reported 36 fps in Alan Wake II at 1080p with DLSS Quality, near 60 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with Ultra RT and upscaling, and 112 fps in Spider-Man Remastered at 1080p with ray tracing maxed.
Where DLSS is enabled, the game renders internally below the displayed output resolution and upscales the image. Those results should not be read as native-resolution performance. If you are comparing cards for ray tracing, compare the same game, RT preset, output resolution and upscaling mode.

| Specification | RTX 5060 |
|---|---|
| GPU | GB206, TSMC 4N, 181 mm² die |
| Shader cores | 3,840 |
| Texture units / ROPs | 120 / 48 |
| Boost clock | 2,497 MHz |
| Cache | 32 MB L2 |

| Memory interface / bandwidth | 128-bit / 448 GB/s |
| Interface | PCIe 5.0 x8 |
| Total board power | 145 W |
The PCIe 5.0 x8 connection is worth checking if you plan to install the card in an older system. TechSpot specifically warns that the reduced link can be more consequential on PCIe 3.0 platforms. The 145 W rating is the review’s listed total board power; it is not a measurement of a complete PC’s power draw.
Is the RTX 5060 worth buying?
For esports-focused 1080p gaming, the review’s results make a reasonable case for the card. For demanding modern games, especially at 1440p, the 8GB capacity makes it a riskier choice. TechSpot judged it decent value in the market conditions it saw in May 2025, but said the VRAM buffer prevented a recommendation at that price.
That price context is historical, not a current buying quote: TechSpot cited a $299 launch MSRP and observed a $330 US Newegg retail price when the review was written. Check today’s local price and compare it with the current cost of alternatives before buying. The review does not establish today’s availability or street prices.
When comparing the RTX 5060 with an RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 3070, or another card, weigh more than the average frame rate: check performance in the games you play, VRAM capacity and frame-time behavior, whether ray-tracing figures rely on DLSS, current street price, and compatibility with your system’s PCIe generation.
