Q*bert: Rebooted reached iOS in late July 2015, timed to Q*bert’s appearance in the Adam Sandler film Pixels. When did Q*bert: Rebooted launch on mobile?
The iOS release arrived in late July 2015. Pocket Gamer reported it available on July 23, while GamesBeat reported the iPhone and iPad launch on July 24. Those reports place the release in the same late-July window, but do not support treating either date as the single definitive launch date. Pocket Gamer and GamesBeat covered the rollout on those respective dates.
GamesBeat described the game at launch as free to download with in-app purchases. That is a historical pricing detail, not confirmation of current pricing, working purchases, or a live listing.
Why was the release tied to Pixels?
The mobile launch was timed to the release of Pixels, the film featuring Q*bert alongside other arcade-game characters. The game’s promotion also extended to PlayStation: Sideline Amusements describes a Pixels Theme Bundle that included a Q*bert dynamic theme for PS4 and three-way cross-buy. These were digital tie-ins; the documented material does not establish a physical edition or a required accessory.

The timing was part of the game’s broader 2015 return. In February, PlayStation.Blog announced versions for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita, pairing the original arcade game with a reimagined one. What changed in the Rebooted mode?
The game separates its familiar arcade play from a redesigned mode. Sideline Amusements lists “Classic Arcade” and “Q*Bert Rebooted!” as the two options. Classic Arcade revisits the original-style game; Rebooted changes the playing field and adds new content.

Classic Arcade
This mode is the route back to the original Q*bert experience. The PlayStation description presents the package as including both the classic game and its reimagining, rather than replacing the old game outright.
Q*Bert Rebooted!
Instead of the original square cubes, Rebooted uses hexagons. Sideline Amusements lists more than 30 new levels, gameplay variants, returning enemies such as Coily, additional foes, and alternate Q*berts including Q*Zilla and Q*Nicorn. The developer’s feature list also mentions competing with friends. These are product features described by the developer, not independent evaluations of balance or difficulty.

Was Q*bert in the movie Pixels?
Yes. Q*bert appeared in Pixels, and the mobile game’s launch was explicitly tied to the film’s promotion. The film connection explains the timing; it does not mean the mobile game is an adaptation of the movie’s story.

Current mobile storefront availability is unresolved. Sideline Amusements’ page lists iOS and Android among the game’s platforms, and Pocket Gamer reported in July 2015 that iOS was available while Android was then limited to Android TV; the creators expected a full Android mobile version the following month. Those historical statements do not confirm that a current iPhone or Android listing exists or can be installed.

The US PlayStation Store currently marks its individual edition as unavailable for purchase, but that status concerns the PlayStation listing only and does not establish mobile availability.
