Dell’s US deals page lists an Alienware Aurora ACT1250 with a Core Ultra 7 265F, GeForce RTX 5070, 32GB DDR5, and 1TB SSD for $1,899.99, down from a listed estimated value of $2,829.99. That makes it worth considering for a ready-to-use 1080p or 1440p gaming PC—if the exact configuration is still available at that price and you do not need a highly upgradeable platform. Dell’s prices can change; check the configuration and final cart total before ordering.
What does the Alienware Aurora deal include?
The documented offer is on Dell’s US deals page. It identifies the system as an Aurora ACT1250 and lists Windows 11 Home alongside the core components below. The page’s $930 saving is the difference between Dell’s listed price and its stated estimated value; it is not proof that this configuration costs $930 less than comparable gaming PCs on the market.

Check Dell’s US desktop deals listing for the live price and selected components. Confirm that the cart still shows the RTX 5070, 32GB memory, and 1TB SSD; a headline price can refer to a different configuration or change before checkout.
Is the discount genuinely good?
The $930 figure is a comparison with Dell’s estimated value, not an independently verified market saving. Price snapshots have also differed: Tom’s Guide’s roundup, last updated August 4, 2026, listed an Aurora RTX 5070 at $2,229, reduced from $2,829. That may have been a different configuration or an earlier deal state, so it should not be treated as the current price for the exact ACT1250 listed by Dell.

Dell’s Alienware desktop page lists the Aurora family starting at $1,849.99, but that starting price may be for a lower configuration and is not a like-for-like comparison with the RTX 5070 offer. To judge alternatives, compare the exact GPU, RAM, SSD capacity, power supply, cooling, operating system, and support terms—not just the processor name or a claimed discount.
As editorial guidance, around $1,900 is compelling for this configuration if the PSU and cooling options suit your plans. Near $2,200, compare standard prebuilts with the same GPU and check whether they include more storage or conventional components. Above $2,300, the Aurora’s value case weakens unless its configuration has materially better components. These are decision thresholds, not verified market-wide price rules.

What gaming performance can you expect?
The RTX 5070 is a strong fit for 1080p gaming and a practical choice for many 1440p games. At 1440p, demanding titles may call for adjusted settings or upscaling. This configuration is not the natural choice for uncompromised, high-refresh 4K gaming, and ray tracing can change performance substantially from one game to another.
WIRED’s review of an Aurora with an RTX 5070 found it about 5% behind a typical RTX 5070 result in 3DMark Steel Nomad. In its game testing, that review recorded 71 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with the Ray Tracing Ultra preset and DLSS off; Black Myth: Wukong did not exceed 60 fps at 1080p in the review’s testing. Those are results from the reviewed system and test settings, not guaranteed frame rates for every ACT1250 or game.

For a more useful expectation, check benchmarks for the specific game, resolution, preset, and ray-tracing mode you care about. Frame generation and upscaling can raise displayed frame rates, but results with those features enabled should not be compared directly with native rendering results.
Which options should you check before buying?
- Verify the GPU first. Make sure the selected system actually has the RTX 5070. The Aurora family includes different GPU configurations, and a lower headline price is not equivalent performance.
- Check the power supply. The deal listing does not specify its PSU wattage. WIRED recommends the 1,000-watt option for buyers planning a future graphics-card upgrade. Confirm the exact option and remember that physical card clearance and power requirements still matter.
- Decide whether 1TB is enough. A 1TB SSD is usable, but a large modern game library can fill it quickly. Price a larger SSD now if you would otherwise need to expand storage immediately.
- Confirm the memory layout. The deal lists 32GB DDR5 but does not state whether it is installed as one or two modules. Check the configuration and expansion support before assuming an easy memory upgrade.
- Check the cooling configuration. Dell lists up to 240mm liquid CPU cooling for the Aurora family, but that does not establish which cooling option is included in this particular deal. Cooling choice can affect price and operation; available evidence does not establish noise or temperatures for every configuration.
- Review the final cart. Verify CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD, power supply, cooling, Windows edition, shipping, taxes, and any accessories added during configuration. Compare the completed system price, not an unconfigured headline.
How upgradeable is the Aurora?
The Aurora can suit someone who expects to use the PC as configured and may later replace a component such as the graphics card or SSD. It is not equivalent to a conventional ATX tower for platform-level changes. TechRadar identifies the ACT1250’s proprietary motherboard and limited upgradeability as drawbacks; chassis space and power requirements also constrain graphics-card choices.

WIRED’s review makes the GPU-upgrade case conditional on choosing the 1,000-watt power supply. That does not guarantee every future card will fit or be compatible. If you expect to replace the motherboard, case, or cooling system—or want broad control over future CPU upgrades—a standard-component prebuilt or a DIY build is a better fit.

Dell describes the Aurora family as having optimized airflow and improved acoustics, and lists up to 240mm liquid CPU cooling. Those are product-family claims, not measurements of the exact deal configuration. TechRadar’s ACT1250 review supports the current platform’s performance case but does not establish that every configuration is quiet. Older Aurora reviews, including coverage of the R15, concern different systems and should not be used as direct temperature or noise tests for the ACT1250.

Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?
It makes sense for
- A first-time gaming PC buyer or console upgrader who wants a ready-to-use desktop.
- Players targeting 1080p or 1440p who value Alienware styling, brand support, and a prebuilt system more than component-by-component control.
- Buyers willing to keep the system largely intact and who find the exact RTX 5070 configuration near $1,900.
Compare or skip it if
- You want maximum performance per dollar or plan frequent motherboard, case, cooling, and CPU-platform changes.
- You primarily play at 4K and would rather put the budget toward a higher graphics tier.
- You need more than 1TB of storage immediately and a larger-SSD alternative costs less overall.
- The price has climbed materially, the configuration differs from the deal, or the final cart total erases the apparent value.
What are the alternatives?
A conventional gaming prebuilt
A standard ATX or mid-tower prebuilt may offer more conventional motherboard and power-supply parts, easier case or cooling replacement, and more accessible GPU clearance. Value and support vary by exact system, so compare matching configurations rather than assuming every rival is cheaper or more upgradeable.
A DIY build
Building your own PC gives you direct control over component selection and upgrade paths. The trade-off is handling compatibility, assembly, operating-system setup, troubleshooting, and warranty claims across multiple vendors.
Alienware Area-51
For a substantially higher-end Alienware system, Dell lists the Area-51 with an 80-liter chassis and options up to RTX 5090 graphics, 360mm liquid cooling, 64GB memory, and 4TB storage. Dell lists a starting price around $4,079.99 on its desktop page. It targets buyers seeking a larger, more powerful platform, not shoppers looking for RTX 5070 value.
