If your PS5 joins the hotel Wi-Fi but still has no internet, it may need a separate hotel sign-in. On the console, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection and select the hotel network. If How to Authenticate appears, use a phone or laptop to join the temporary PS5 network and complete the hotel’s sign-in there. Hotel portals and PS5 menus can vary, so follow the prompts shown for your property and system software.
How to connect a PS5 to hotel Wi-Fi
- On the PS5, open Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select the correct hotel Wi-Fi network (SSID). Enter a Wi-Fi password only if the hotel provided one, then follow the console prompts.
- If the console shows How to Authenticate, select it and continue with the phone-assisted steps below. Joining the Wi-Fi network and being authorized to use its internet are separate steps.
- Run the PS5 connection test when setup is complete. If it still fails, use the troubleshooting steps below.
PlayStation recommends checking that you selected the correct SSID and entered the right password, reviewing the network’s security method, and checking PlayStation service status when connection setup fails. See PlayStation’s internet connection setup guide. Menu behavior may differ by PS5 system software.
How do I authenticate my PS5 on hotel Wi-Fi?
When the PS5 offers How to Authenticate, it can direct you to finish the hotel sign-in using another device. You may need to accept terms, enter room details, or use a voucher, depending on the property.
- Choose How to Authenticate on the PS5 and note the temporary network name and password shown on the console.
- On a phone or laptop, open Wi-Fi settings and connect to that temporary PS5 network using the displayed password.
- Follow the hotel sign-in page that appears on the phone or laptop. Complete the property’s requested login or terms acceptance.
- Return to the PS5 and test its internet connection.
This phone-assisted sequence is documented for Alberta Health Services’ managed “healthspot” network, not as a universal hotel procedure. A 2025 video also describes the general approach for hotel Wi-Fi, but properties use different portals and prompts. Follow your hotel’s instructions if they differ. Alberta Health Services’ guide says: “You will need a cellphone or laptop to connect a PlayStation 5 console to the hospital Wi-Fi.” That statement refers to its hospital system. How do I get the hotel Wi-Fi login page on PS5?
Use How to Authenticate if it appears; the documented flow uses a phone or laptop connected to the temporary network named by the PS5, rather than relying on a general-purpose browser on the console. The hotel’s sign-in page should appear on that other device as part of its connection flow. If it does not appear, check the hotel’s instructions or ask its Wi-Fi support how to open the portal for a newly connected device. The available support guidance does not establish an official hidden-browser method for PS5.
PS5 says connected but there is no internet
“Connected” can mean the console has joined the wireless network; it does not necessarily mean the hotel has authorized internet access. Use the relevant branch below to identify what is still blocking the connection.

“How to Authenticate” is missing
Check the PS5’s Wi-Fi frequency-band setting. In its own managed-network guide, Alberta Health Services recommends 2.4 GHz as a troubleshooting setting. That advice is specific to its environment, not a universal requirement for hotel Wi-Fi. If the option remains unavailable, ask hotel Wi-Fi support whether guests must register each device or whether a device limit applies.
The hotel sign-in completed, but the PS5 still fails
Run the PS5 connection test again and check PlayStation service status. Ask hotel support whether the property restricts gaming services or whether the PS5 still needs device registration. PlayStation states that PS5 supports IPv6 but not IPv6-only network connections; guests generally cannot change the hotel’s router configuration, so contact the property rather than trying to alter hotel-managed equipment. The portal rejects the login or does not load
Confirm that you followed the property’s portal instructions and used the correct room details, voucher, or account information if requested. Contact hotel Wi-Fi support for help with its sign-in page, registration process, device limit, or restrictions. Portal behavior is property-specific; successfully joining the SSID alone does not resolve a hotel-side access requirement.

If the standard authentication route is unavailable or impractical, these are possible alternatives—not guaranteed fixes. Check the hotel’s terms and permitted device count first; none should be used to bypass paid access or network policies.

What to ask hotel Wi-Fi support
- Does the property require individual device registration, and how do guests register a PS5?
- Is there a limit on the number of devices per room or guest account?
- Does the network restrict gaming services or require a particular sign-in procedure?
- Are travel routers, hotspots, or connection sharing permitted under the property’s Wi-Fi terms?
