To complete “Paralyzed by Panic” in Where Winds Meet, find the brothers near Encircling Lake in Moonveil Mountain, Qinghe, treat their injuries in sequence, then defeat the three brothers who ambush you. The encounter is reported to trigger during heavy rain around the Wei/Shen time window; exact timing instructions vary between guides.
How to trigger Paralyzed by Panic
- Go to Encircling Lake in Moonveil Mountain, Qinghe. Look south of the lake, near the Encircling Lake Boundary Stone, for Big Smart balancing on rocks.
- Set the weather to Heavy Rain and try during the Wei/Shen period. Game8 gives the window as 13:00–17:00; NerdsChalk describes the timing differently, so allow for variation rather than relying on an exact minute.
- If the encounter does not appear, try setting Heavy Rain and the time in Photo Mode Pro Mode, then leave Photo Mode and move around the lake. Game8 also suggests walking away and re-entering the area, spending 24 in-game hours away from the lake, or clearing the Encounter list. These are guide-reported suggestions, not guaranteed fixes.

How to complete the encounter
Once Big Smart appears, the encounter follows a treatment sequence that leads to a fight:
- Treat Big Smart: Speak with him and use the game’s healing or doctor action to treat his snake bite.
- Treat Big Astute: Head up the cliff to find and treat him.
- Treat Great Wisdom: Continue farther up the mountain. He is lying on a rock; treat him to advance the encounter.
- Defeat the ambush: After treating Great Wisdom, fight and defeat the three brothers, then speak with them to finish the encounter.
Game8 recommends at least 3,100 Mastery points in the Healing Profession for successful treatment. GameTrek describes the treatment as curing “Snake Venom (3100).” These are requirements reported by the guides. See GameTrek’s side-story walkthrough.
