Bunka Fashion College’s Roblox Digital Fashion Program began as a five-month collaboration in 2024, teaching students to develop fashion for both physical garments and Roblox avatars. Its first 21 students built personal collections and presented digital pieces in a public Roblox exhibition where visitors could try on, vote for and buy the items. Bunka reported in June 2026 that a second cohort had completed the program.
What is Bunka’s Roblox Digital Fashion Program?
Announced by Dentsu Group on October 25, 2024, the program was a company-collaboration class in Bunka Fashion College’s Virtual Fashion Course. It ran from October 2024 through February 2025, with Bunka, Dentsu Group, Roblox Corporation and GeekOut Inc. involved. Dentsu described it as the first program of its kind in Japan to receive official Roblox support. Dentsu Group’s launch announcement set out the course’s five-month schedule.
The broader Virtual Fashion Course, established in April 2024, was a one-year elective. In a later account, Bunka instructor Satoshi Tokuoka described students using CLO to design garments on computers, create 2D patterns and simulate how those garments take shape in 3D. The Roblox collaboration’s second-semester work extended that process to moving clothing data onto the platform and selling digital items there. Dentsu’s retrospective on the course describes that wider workflow.
What did the students make?
Digital and physical “My Brand” collections
The inaugural class had 21 students. Each developed a personal “My Brand” collection spanning digital and physical fashion. For the Roblox side, students used Roblox Studio and layered clothing technology to create avatar fashion. Dentsu’s February 2025 graduation announcement describes the class’s work and says many graduates had already secured jobs at major Japanese apparel companies; it does not give a number or name the employers.

A virtual graduation exhibition
Students presented their work in “Bunka Graduation Fashion Runway: Class of 2025,” a Roblox experience built as a virtual exhibition. Roblox said visitors around the world could explore it, try on looks, vote for favorites and purchase the digital fashions. GeekOut’s March 2025 update says purchased items could also be worn outside the exhibit.
GeekOut also reported a separate, temporary installation in the Outfit Tokyo Fashion Mall Hangout from March 4 through May 31, 2025. That display period has ended. These were Roblox digital goods and experiences, not physical garments sold through a retail store. Roblox’s account of the exhibition explains how the public encountered the students’ work.

Did Bunka continue the program?
Yes. In a notice dated June 2, 2026, Bunka said a second cohort had completed the program. It also reported that six selected graduates from March 2026 were invited to exhibit student work at RDC 2026, an invitation-only event in the United States planned for September. The notice confirms the invitation and plan, not whether the showcase took place or what it displayed. Bunka’s June 2026 update is the source for those details.

Bunka’s program treated avatar clothing as a design medium that could sit alongside garment-making, rather than as a substitute for physical fashion. Students built digital collections, learned a platform workflow and put their work in front of Roblox users. The program’s public exhibition also connected creation to participation: visitors could wear the looks, vote and purchase them.

That framing is consistent with Bunka School President Sachiko Aihara’s view, quoted by Roblox: “Future fashion brands will be both sewing and coding clothes.” It is an institutional vision for fashion education, not evidence that digital and physical fashion markets are interchangeable. The available program accounts establish the student outputs and exhibition mechanics, but do not quantify sales, audience response or longer-term career outcomes.
