To complete the Rumor quest in Fish It, speak with Bill and Phil on Kohana Island, find the ladder that leads down to the hidden lab, catch one fish at the lab’s designated fishing spot, then return to the pair. The available walkthrough does not give the ladder’s exact location, so you will need to search the island rather than follow coordinates.
How to complete the Rumor quest
The Jan. 30, 2026 NerdsChalk walkthrough associates Rumor with Crystal Depths Update Part 2. It describes this four-part route:
- Find Bill and Phil on Kohana Island. Speak with them to start the quest; their dialogue points you toward a hidden laboratory.
- Search Kohana for a ladder. The reported entrance is a ladder leading down into an interior area. The walkthrough gives neither coordinates nor a distinctive landmark for it.
- Catch a fish inside the lab. Use the lab’s designated fishing spot. The walkthrough says one successful catch is enough and reports no rarity or bait requirement. Casting at other water surfaces may not count.
- Return to Bill and Phil. Talk to them again after the catch to report completion.
Where is the hidden lab in Fish It?
The reported entrance is somewhere on Kohana Island, via a ladder leading down. The available guide does not identify the ladder’s precise position or a nearby landmark, so a more exact location cannot be given from that information. If you find a ladder, descend and check whether the area below is the lab before attempting the fishing objective.
What should you do if the catch does not count?
Make sure you are fishing at the designated spot inside the lab, not casting at another water surface. The walkthrough describes one successful fish as sufficient; it does not specify a required fish type, rarity, bait, or rod. If the objective still does not register, return to the quest givers only after confirming the catch occurred at the intended spot.

What is the Rumor quest reward?
All Things How’s quest roundup reports a reward of 5,000 coins for “A Rumor.” That amount is a single secondary-guide claim, not independently confirmed by the walkthrough or an official game source; check the in-game quest display to verify the reward.
How reliable is this route?
The route is reported by secondary gameplay guides, not an official developer walkthrough. The NerdsChalk guide was updated Jan. 30, 2026, and the available information does not confirm whether a later patch changed the quest. Treat the steps as reported guidance rather than a verified description of the live game on Oct. 8, 2026.
