The “this year” in the 2025 rumor meant 2025, and the claim was unconfirmed when it appeared. Konami later officially announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, now scheduled for October 15, 2026. As of October 8, 2026, the release date is still upcoming.
What did the 2025 Castlevania rumor claim?
Reports published on February 7 and 8, 2025 said a new Castlevania game could be announced that year. The claim was attributed to a post by journalist Daniel Camilo, who reportedly said the possible announcements came from different sources and were not guaranteed. Contemporary coverage urged caution; it was reporting about a rumor, not confirmation from Konami. Xarkas’s February 8, 2025 report and Gfinity Esports’ February 7, 2025 report document how the claim was framed at the time.
That distinction matters: the rumor did not establish a specific reveal event, an AAA production, a remake, a plot, or the studio that would make the game. Those details should not be treated as confirmed plans.
What did Konami announce afterward?
Konami later announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. The company describes it as a 2D action-exploration game developed in partnership with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, and associates it with the series’ 40th anniversary. Konami’s official game website lists October 15, 2026 as the release date.

- Classics that defined the Castlevania series.

- This includes eight classic Castlevania games preserved on one disc with a full-color manual.
- The Castlevania Anniversary Collection on physical disc for the PlayStation 4. Also works on PlayStation 5. Region-free.
The date is also given in Konami’s release announcement, which says preorders opened for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. The official game site also lists Nintendo Switch for October 15. The announcement said Switch preorder timing would be shared later, so it does not establish when Switch preorders open.
What is known about editions?
Konami announced a physical PS5 Midnight Edition alongside the release information. The cited announcement does not itemize what it contains or establish its price or stock, so those details should be checked against a current retailer listing rather than assumed from the edition name.
