What the awards recognize
Roblox describes the Innovation Awards as an annual event celebrating creators, video stars, and games, with nominations made by Roblox staff and the community. The 2026 categories ranged from game genres and creator recognition to platform tools and creative work. For example, RIVALS won Best Shooter, DOORS won Best Use of Audio, UGC Makers Toolbox won Best Plugin, and Steal a Brainrot x GOAT won Best Innovation in a Branded Game.

As Roblox’s Head of Developer Community Justin “JParty” Sousa put it in the 2026 announcement: “There isn’t one definition of a great Roblox game anymore, and that’s the point.” Category labels can change from year to year, so the 2026 list should not be treated as a template for the next awards.
Will the Roblox Innovation Awards return in 2027?
Yes. Roblox’s September 12, 2026 announcement says the awards will happen again in 2027. At the time of that announcement and the Creator Hub status check on October 8, 2026, Roblox had not published the next cycle’s dates, eligibility rules, categories, nomination window, or voting period. The Roblox Creator Hub awards page currently marks the program closed and says nominations are closed; check it for changes before planning around a future cycle.

How the 2025 awards worked
The 2025 process is useful historical context, but it does not establish the rules for 2027. Roblox’s June 6, 2025 nominations announcement scheduled that year’s event for Saturday, September 6, in San Jose, California, and set a June 16, 5 p.m. Pacific nomination deadline. Its categories included Best New Experience, People’s Choice, Best Collaboration, Best Use of IP, Best Use of Immersive Marketing, game genres, Best UGC Creator, and Best Video Star. Roblox published those details in its 2025 nominations announcement.
In 2025, voting took place in a dedicated Voting Hub, with categories open together and voting closing August 15 at 8 p.m. Pacific. The hub also offered collectable shards and custom RIA-themed UGC items as in-experience rewards. Those were digital rewards, not evidence of physical merchandise. Roblox’s 2025 voting announcement describes the voting window and rewards; the 2025 Voting Hub page later stated that voting had concluded and directed visitors to the show.
