If Blitz is not importing runes in League of Legends, first work out whether Blitz cannot detect League or champ select, or whether League is detected but the rune page fails to appear. For a detection problem, Blitz’s published first step is to restart the app from its Settings menu. If that does not help, check permissions carefully: Riot’s current guidance is to run the Riot Client as administrator, not to change permissions on individual League game executables.
First identify where the import fails
Check what you see before changing settings. If Blitz does not recognize League or champ select, start with the app-detection steps below. If Blitz recognizes the match but the rune page does not appear or apply, the older Blitz troubleshooting article does not establish a fix for every modern import failure. Avoid treating detection and rune-application problems as automatically the same issue.
- Blitz does not detect League or champ select: restart Blitz, then consider whether its permissions align with how League is running.
- League is detected but the page does not apply: verify the failure details and use support escalation if basic checks do not resolve it; do not assume a client repair will fix the import.
Restart Blitz, then check how it is launched
Blitz’s troubleshooting article, published June 21, 2018, recommends restarting Blitz through its Settings menu for detection issues. The article is historical guidance, so current app labels or behavior may differ.
The same article says that if League is running as administrator, Blitz should also be launched as administrator for detection or item importing. It states: “In order for Blitz to detect your LoL Client or import items, we also need to be run in administrator mode.” Treat this as dated vendor advice rather than a verified requirement for current versions. Do not change Windows permissions on League game executables as a blanket fix.

Use Riot’s permission guidance for Riot Client issues
Riot Games Player Support’s permissions article, dated March 28, 2025, directs users to set Run as Administrator on the Riot Client shortcut. Riot explicitly warns: “Please Note: Changing the permissions for the executables of individual games may result in an error! Only do this for the Riot Client.” Follow Riot’s instructions for the Riot Client rather than applying administrator permissions indiscriminately to game files.
This is Riot’s guidance for client permissions; it does not establish that a permissions problem is the cause of every Blitz rune-import failure.

Repair League only if the client is patching or files are broken
If the Riot Client cannot patch or League files appear corrupted, Riot’s separate Patching Issues article describes troubleshooting that includes the built-in Initiate Full Repair action. That repair addresses patching or corrupted-file symptoms; Riot does not identify it as a Blitz rune-import fix.
Riot’s patching guidance also lists temporarily disabling a firewall among steps for patching issues. Because that guidance is not specifically about Blitz imports, do not disable security software as a general import remedy. If you suspect blocking, check whether your security product is blocking the relevant app and use supported exceptions only when current vendor instructions recommend them.

Be cautious with old dependency and antivirus suggestions
Blitz’s 2018 article also mentions Windows 7 Aero requirements, Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, Windows Universal C Runtime, and checking whether antivirus quarantined blitz_helper.exe. Those are dated details, not confirmed current requirements or fixes. Do not install legacy dependencies or weaken security settings solely on the basis of that old article; check current official guidance for your version and operating system.
Escalate with useful details
If restarting and appropriate client-permission checks do not help, record what happens before contacting support. Include whether Blitz detects League and champ select, whether the issue affects all champions or matches, your Blitz and game versions, and any exact error text.

For a Riot support ticket, Riot’s permissions page requests diagnostic information including DirectX Diagnostic, a process list, and NetworkInfo. These artifacts are relevant to Riot’s support workflow; the page does not say every Blitz support request needs them. Blitz’s older article points to Discord, but its current support route has not been established here, so verify the route through Blitz’s current official channels.

Third-party tools can depend on game data that changes across patches. Riot’s developer documentation explains that Data Dragon distributes League data and assets, including rune data, but Riot updates it manually and it may not be updated immediately; regional client versions can also differ from Data Dragon versions. This makes version differences a plausible compatibility consideration, not proof that stale data caused a particular import failure.
