The two games had different plans: Old School RuneScape had no Pride event, while RuneScape reran its existing Tales of Pride event without new material. Jagex said previous Pride content remained live and that community-led marches were supported.
What happened to Pride content in RuneScape in 2025?
Jagex told staff in April 2025 that it was pausing work on new in-game Pride content for the year. PC Gamer reported on June 11 that this meant no Pride event in Old School RuneScape (OSRS), while RuneScape brought back its existing Tales of Pride event without newly developed content. PinkNews also described the OSRS mini-quest as discontinued for 2025 and Tales of Pride as returning without new content.

| Game | 2025 Pride plans | New content? |
|---|---|---|
| Old School RuneScape | No Pride event, according to PC Gamer’s June 11, 2025 report; PinkNews also described its mini-quest as discontinued for 2025. | No event was held. |
| RuneScape | Existing Tales of Pride event returned, according to PC Gamer and PinkNews. | No newly developed content was added. |
“Canceled” is therefore an incomplete shorthand: the plans were not identical across both games, and Jagex said earlier Pride content remained in-game. The company also said community-organized Pride marches were still supported.
Why did Jagex pause new Pride content?
PC Gamer reported that CEO Jon Bellamy described the issue during an internal staff Q&A: “the content is now controversial in a way it didn’t used to be and that controversy now brings more risk than it did previously, risk that I’m personally responsible to protect against.” This is a reported internal remark, not a statement verified against a publicly available company transcript.

#1 Best Overall
In its public statement, Jagex said: “In April, we took the difficult decision to pause work on new in-game Pride content for 2025 and communicated this with our teams.” The company said its development focus was on “crafting worlds that serve what our players have been asking us for, offering immersion, escape, and meaning.” It separately said that existing Pride content remained live and that it was proud to support community-led Pride marches.
Bellamy’s reported reference to controversy and risk is not the same as Jagex’s public explanation. The available reporting does not establish that the decision was specifically a response to the Trump administration.

Did Jagex announce a Pride charity partnership?
No specific partner or program was named in the quoted public statement. Jagex said it was working with its internal DEI committee to explore broader ways to celebrate Pride, “including possible partnerships and charitable support.” That describes possibilities under consideration, not a confirmed partnership or commitment.
Did RuneScape remove its older Pride content?
Jagex said previous years’ Pride content remained live. The reported 2025 change concerned the creation of new in-game content and the different event plans for RuneScape and OSRS; it was not an announcement that all existing Pride content had been removed.
