When will the remaster come out?

Bethesda also said it has multiple Fallout projects in active development and separately confirmed that Obsidian is working with it on a new Fallout project. The announcement does not identify that Obsidian collaboration as the New Vegas remaster. In a February 2026 interview, Bethesda director Todd Howard said he had “softened on the whole remaster thing” and was “sort of anti-remake,” explaining that a game’s age is part of its personality and history. Is Iron Galaxy making it?
There is no confirmation that Iron Galaxy is involved. The studio’s “Please Stand By” slide prompted speculation in March 2026, but Iron Galaxy told GameSpot that it was a routine slide used at monthly internal company meetings and “has nothing to do with anything Fallout being worked on.” Bethesda’s later remaster confirmation does not connect Iron Galaxy to the project. Should you play the original game or wait?
If you want to play now, the original Fallout: New Vegas remains a separate option. Steam lists Obsidian Entertainment as its developer, Bethesda Softworks as its publisher, and October 19, 2010, as its release date. Those details describe the original game, not the remaster.
