Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

The developer describes remote play through Steam Remote Play Together; Steam lists the game’s co-op as shared/split-screen. If the local player also sees choppy gameplay, check local performance. If only the remote player sees delay or degraded video, focus on the Remote Play connection. The available information does not establish one confirmed cause or a guaranteed fix.
First, identify how you are playing co-op
Steam lists Big Helmet Heroes as shared/split-screen co-op. For players in different locations, the developer FAQ describes using Steam Remote Play Together. That is remote streaming of the host’s local game session, not evidence of a separate native online co-op mode.
If you are using Remote Play Together, the developer FAQ recommends: “We recommend that you choose the host with the better internet connection to host the game for a better experience.” Try having that player host and compare the experience. It is a recommendation, not a guarantee that changing hosts will eliminate lag. Steam store listing · Developer FAQ on Steam
Work out whether the issue is local stutter or remote-play delay
Both players—or the host—see choppy gameplay
If the game looks choppy on the host’s own PC, start with local rendering performance. Steam lists these PC requirements:
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
| Requirement tier | Processor | Memory | Graphics |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Intel i5 6300 | 8 GB RAM | GTX 1060 |
| Recommended | Intel i5 11400 | 16 GB RAM | GTX 3060 |
These are Steam’s published local PC requirements, not a diagnosis of Remote Play latency. Meeting them does not establish that a remote connection is healthy, and falling below a listed tier does not prove that it is the cause of a particular lag symptom. Steam store listing
The host sees smooth play, but the remote player sees delay or degraded output
That pattern points your troubleshooting toward the Remote Play connection path rather than proving that the host PC’s graphics hardware is at fault. Test with the player who has the better internet connection hosting, as the developer FAQ advises. Compare what each player sees before and after the host change. The available sources do not specify a further network setting or equipment change that is a confirmed fix for this game.

Check the co-op input setup separately
The developer FAQ says two controllers are required for co-op under its described input setup. This is a setup requirement, not a way to reduce lag. If one player cannot control a character or co-op input is not working, check the controller setup independently from any streaming delay. Developer FAQ on Steam

Steam’s listing describes shared/split-screen co-op, while the developer FAQ explains Remote Play Together as the way PC players can play remotely. In a Steam community discussion, a developer said on November 10, 2025 that online co-op was not planned at that time. That is a dated statement, not confirmation of current development plans; consult the game’s current official information for any later changes.
