The base S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy has too few critic reviews on Metacritic for a completed Metascore, so there is not enough evidence for a broad consensus. The visible Nintendo Switch reviews praise its tense atmosphere and deep mix of action, stealth, and role-playing, while also warning of technical issues. Keep that verdict separate from the 2025 Enhanced Edition, which has a 73/100 Metascore based on five critic reviews.
What critics say about the base trilogy
The collection bundles Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat. Metacritic’s base-collection page says it needs four critic reviews to display a Metascore; the visible Switch review section shows two, from SpazioGames and Cubed3. Their scores are 85 and 80, respectively, but those two excerpts are examples rather than a representative cross-platform consensus. Metacritic’s collection page is the relevant source for that limited snapshot.

Atmosphere, tension, and a genre blend
SpazioGames recommends the collection for its combination of action, stealth, and role-playing, along with its package value and port quality. Cubed3 emphasizes the games’ tense atmosphere and depth. Its Nintendo Switch review, as listed by Metacritic, concludes: “In spite of its technical issues, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy is still an engrossing and tense collection of some of the best twitch-based survival-horror action RPG that also happens to be set in a radioactive Russian wasteland.”
Technical caveats matter
Cubed3’s praise comes with an explicit warning about technical issues. That makes the Switch excerpts a mixed practical picture: critics see absorbing survival-horror role-playing and strong atmosphere, but the available reviews do not establish that the port is technically smooth. Nor do these two Switch reviews establish how the collection performs or reviews across every platform.

Enhanced Edition reviews are a separate verdict
The S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy – Enhanced Edition is a distinct release dated May 20, 2025. Metacritic lists it at 73/100, based on five critic reviews; that score belongs to the Enhanced Edition, not the base 2024 collection. Metacritic’s Enhanced Edition page provides the edition-specific score.
The sampled Enhanced Edition reviews find value in its survival gameplay, three-game story, and upgraded presentation. They also describe dated mission design, old-fashioned mechanics, and technical roughness. Read the score as a measured response to a package that refreshes presentation without removing the older design conventions—not as evidence that the base collection received the same aggregate rating.

How to use the reviews when deciding
- If you want a critic consensus for the base collection: the reviewed Metacritic page does not provide a completed aggregate score. Treat the Switch excerpts as a small sample, not a universal rating.
- If presentation upgrades are the deciding factor: check that the store listing is for the Enhanced Edition and that the enhanced features are supported on your platform; the PlayStation listing specifically excludes those features on PS4.
- If you are weighing physical ownership: SEGA documents Japanese packaged Switch and PS4 releases, but the cited product page does not verify present-day retailer stock, import terms, or language details.
