Update 1.6 improved and rebalanced stash and open-world loot in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, but GSC Game World did not say it fixed every stash or loot problem. Released September 23, 2025, the update also added sorting to the player stash. It is now a historical patch: GSC’s archive lists Patch 2.0.6, dated September 18, 2026.
What Update 1.6 changed about loot
In the official Update 1.6: Night of the Hunter notes, GSC says it rebalanced loot in stashes throughout the Zone. The update also added the ability to sort items in the player’s stash.

GSC’s Update 1.6 showcase explains the intent: “That’s why we reviewed all game loot in stashes and on the map, and made several buffs to stash and open world loot system to make stash hunting experience more enjoyable.” That is the developer’s description of the changes and their goal—not a measured before-and-after result or a promise that every stash got better.
Does “finally fixes” describe the update accurately?
Not quite. The notes document a broad loot rebalance and a stash-management convenience feature, but they do not claim that all stash bugs were resolved or provide a stash-by-stash comparison. “Improves” or “rebalances” is more accurate than “fixes.” Individual players may still find particular stashes disappointing, and the official materials do not quantify how much the loot changed.

Stash changes began before Update 1.6
Update 1.6 was part of a series of targeted adjustments, rather than the first attempt to address stashes. The official Patch 1.5 notes, dated June 25, 2025, describe changes to some stash markers and locations in Rostok and Yaniv, an expanded player-stash window, and a fix for the “Take all” button becoming inactive in a loot window. Earlier, Patch 1.2 recorded a loot rebalance for a stash near Hydrodynamics Lab and inventory updates for stashes around Cordon.

GSC’s official patch archive lists Update 1.6 on September 23, 2025, and Patch 2.0.6 on September 18, 2026. GSC announced Update 2.0 on August 14, 2026, calling it the biggest overhaul to the Zone since launch and setting its release for August 20 alongside Cost of Hope. That broad announcement does not establish what Update 2.0 specifically changed about stash loot, so it cannot confirm the present-day condition of every stash.

Update 1.6’s loot rebalance and sorting are documented changes; a universal fix or guaranteed improvement for every player is not. If you are assessing the game as it stands now, consult the notes for the version you are playing rather than treating 1.6 as current.
