To find one you can reach, search the in-game Galaxy map and check your ship’s displayed warp range before traveling. Community references list Swarm hostile levels, but the exact locations and access details can change as the game is updated.
What are Swarm systems in STFC?
Swarm systems are areas on the Galaxy map where you can take on Swarm enemies. Scopely’s event schedule includes Threat From Beyond and Threat From Beyond – Heroic activities that score players for destroying Swarm enemies or defeating Swarm clusters. The practical objective is to choose a hostile or cluster suited to your ship and progress.
Swarm hostiles and Swarm Armadas are different activities
Regular Swarm clusters are hostile encounters. Swarm Armadas are a separate activity: an Armada tier is not the same thing as an individual hostile’s level. Check which activity you are selecting before planning a fight or comparing a level listed in a guide.
What levels are Swarm hostiles?
A community guide, verified in July 2026, lists ordinary Swarm Clusters from level 15 through level 50, and Swarm Armada tiers at levels 40, 44, and 48. These are guide figures, not an official or guaranteed current list; confirm the level shown in your game before setting out.

Does Swarm require Franklin-A?
Not for every Swarm activity based on the available official information. Scopely’s announcement identifies Ops 45 commanders who build Franklin-A as able to confront the Swarm, unlock further challenges, and receive a weekly Beyond the Threat Officers Gift. That is a stated progression milestone; it should not be read as a universal requirement for lower-level Swarm hostiles.
The same announcement gives event eligibility bands of Ops 18–44 for Threat From Beyond and Ops 35–44 for its Heroic version, scheduled under Sunday’s Swarm section. Those ranges describe those events, not permanent access rules for every Swarm system.

How to find a Swarm system you can reach
- Open the in-game Galaxy map and search for a Swarm system or cluster appropriate to your progression.
- Select the destination and check its hostile level and any access information shown in the live game.
- Check the range of the ship you intend to use. Do not commit resources to a route until the game confirms that ship can reach the destination.
- Choose a regular hostile or a Swarm Armada based on the activity you intend to complete; their levels and tiers describe different encounters.
Community resources can help you discover candidate systems, but they are not a substitute for the live map. The fan-maintained STFC Galaxy Map project records Swarm systems on an interactive map, while its README describes a project dating to 2019. The fan-run stfc.club knowledge base covers systems, hostiles, ships, and guides, and says some data comes from stfc.space. Treat both as discovery aids rather than authoritative statements of current access or Scopely policy.
