If LEGO Party! crashes on Nintendo Switch, start with any error code shown, then restart the console, update both the system and game, and check the game data before deleting and redownloading it. The publisher’s version 1.6.62 notes also list fixes for two specific occasional crashes, but they do not say that every crash is resolved.
Try these fixes in order
Nintendo’s general guidance for Switch software that freezes or does not respond is to restart the console, install system and game updates, check for corrupt data, and delete and redownload the software if needed. These are general troubleshooting steps, not a guaranteed fix for every LEGO Party! crash.
- Look up an error code first. If the game displays an error code or message, search Nintendo Support for that exact code or message and follow its instructions. Nintendo advises that specific error guidance can differ from the general steps below.
- Restart the Switch. Hold the console’s POWER button for at least three seconds, select Power Options, then Restart. If the system is unresponsive, Nintendo’s US support instructions say to hold POWER for 20 seconds to force it off, then turn it on again.
- Install system and game updates. Install any available Nintendo Switch system update. To update LEGO Party!, highlight its icon on the HOME Menu without starting it, press + or −, choose Software Update, then Via the Internet.
- Check for corrupt game data. Open System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software → LEGO Party! → Check for Corrupt Data and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Delete and redownload LEGO Party! if the problem persists. Try this only after the less disruptive steps. Nintendo warns that formatting a microSD card erases its contents; do not format one as an early troubleshooting step, and make sure important data is backed up before any destructive action.
- Contact support if the crash continues. Use Nintendo Support for console or error-code guidance. For game-specific help, the LEGO Party! FAQ directs players to the publisher’s support page.
Nintendo’s instructions are collected in General Problems with Downloaded Software (Freezing, Not Responding, etc.). The FAQ’s support link is at LEGO Party! FAQ.
Check whether the crash matches a LEGO Party! patch fix
The publisher’s notes for LEGO Party! version 1.6.62, dated September 17, 2026, specify two occasional crash fixes. If either situation describes your crash, check that the game is updated to that version or later, then try the same action again.

What if you play on Nintendo Switch 2?
Nintendo’s product listing says Switch 2 compatibility is supported with behavior consistent with Switch, and the publisher’s version 1.6.0 notes say that update added Switch 2 support and optimization. Neither statement rules out crashes on Switch 2. The same troubleshooting order applies: check any error message, restart, update the system and game, and check game data before reinstalling.

Does a particular game mode cause the crash?
The official FAQ describes LEGO Party! as a one-to-four-player party game with couch and online multiplayer and crossplay. The official materials do not identify a mode as the cause of the crashes addressed here. A crash that occurs in one mode is useful information to share with support, but by itself it does not establish a confirmed diagnosis.

Nintendo’s restart, update, data-check, and redownload steps are general remedies for software problems. The publisher’s notes are narrower: they document fixes for two named occasional crash situations in version 1.6.62. Neither source establishes a universal cause or confirms that all LEGO Party! crashes have been resolved.
