Movie Games said in April 2025 that it was investigating possible infringement involving Schedule I, but it also said there was no lawsuit and that it did not intend to stop the game’s sale or development. After the announcement, negative reviews appeared on Steam for Drug Dealer Simulator and Drug Dealer Simulator 2, games published by Movie Games. Those reviews were reported as a review-bombing wave at the time; the available reporting does not establish that it is still happening.

What happened between Schedule I and Drug Dealer Simulator?

In early April 2025, Movie Games announced an investigation into possible infringement relating to Schedule I, the game developed by TVGS. Contemporary reporting said the potential similarities being examined included plot, mechanics and user interface. That was an allegation under investigation, not a court finding that infringement had occurred. PC Gamer reported on the investigation.

Following the announcement, coverage described a burst of negative Steam reviews for Movie Games’ Drug Dealer Simulator titles. 80 Level reported nearly 2,300 negative reviews since April 3 and a 17% 30-day rating in its April 2025 story. Those are historical figures from that report, not current Steam totals or ratings.

Did Movie Games sue Schedule I?

Movie Games said there was no lawsuit at the time of its clarification. As quoted by PC Gamer, the publisher said, “There is no lawsuit,” and added that “it is not our intention to prevent TVGS from selling or developing their game.” It described its action as an investigation into similarities following a preliminary legal analysis. PC Gamer reported the clarification.

That answers the question for the April 2025 statement: Movie Games said it had not sued. The material available here does not establish whether the publisher later filed a case, completed its investigation or reached a final legal outcome.

What does “review bombed” mean here?

Valve’s Steamworks documentation defines review bombing as “when a large amount of players use reviews to voice their unhappiness, lower a review score and provoke a response.” Valve says it may exclude abnormal review volume unrelated to the product or service from a game’s overall score, and instructs developers to contact Valve for assessment. Valve’s guidance explains the policy.

That general policy does not show that Valve classified the reviews of either Drug Dealer Simulator game as a review bomb or removed any reviews from its score. The April 2025 coverage described the negative-review activity, but the sources do not establish how Valve assessed it.

What the allegation and platform process do—and do not—establish

Movie Games’ reported concerns about plot, mechanics and interface explain what it said it was examining; they do not settle whether Schedule I infringed copyright. The available accounts contain no court ruling on the merits.

Valve’s copyright notice form warns that an infringement claim is a serious legal matter and that knowingly materially misrepresenting infringement may create liability under Section 512(f) of the DMCA. That warning describes the platform’s complaint process; it is not a ruling on Movie Games’ allegation. Valve’s copyright notice form provides the relevant terms.

What is known now—and what is not

The dated reports establish the publisher’s April 2025 investigation announcement, its subsequent statement that there was no lawsuit and no intent to stop Schedule I’s sale or development, and contemporary reporting of negative Steam reviews for the Drug Dealer Simulator games. They do not verify present-day review counts or ratings, later litigation, or the investigation’s final result. Treat claims about those later developments as unconfirmed unless supported by a newer publisher statement or court record.
