To pair a DUALSHOCK 4 with a supported phone, tablet, computer, or TV, turn the controller off, disconnect its USB cable, then hold SHARE + PS until the light bar flashes. Open Bluetooth settings on the device and select the controller. PlayStation says pairing is complete when the light bar blinks and the player indicator lights up.
Pair a DUALSHOCK 4 over Bluetooth
- Turn off the controller. If its player indicator is lit, hold the PS button until the indicator goes dark.
- Disconnect USB. The controller should not be connected to a cable during this Bluetooth pairing sequence.
- Enter pairing mode. Hold SHARE and PS together until the light bar flashes.
- Select the controller on your device. Open the device’s Bluetooth settings, scan for available devices, and choose the DUALSHOCK 4 controller when it appears. PlayStation describes successful pairing as the light bar blinking and the player indicator lighting up.
These steps follow PlayStation Support’s DUALSHOCK 4 connection guide. The exact Bluetooth menu varies by device.
Check whether your device and game support it
PlayStation lists DUALSHOCK 4 Bluetooth and USB support for the following operating systems and versions. These are controller-connection thresholds; they do not guarantee that every game or app accepts a controller.

The listed versions are minimums; later releases are included. Before troubleshooting a game, check that the device meets the applicable threshold and that the game or app itself supports controller input. PlayStation’s compatibility information is in its controller connection guide.

Know what Bluetooth features may be unavailable
On non-Xperia devices, PlayStation says the DUALSHOCK 4 touchpad is unsupported, the light-bar color cannot be changed, and rumble, the motion sensor, and audio through the controller’s headphone jack are unsupported. PlayStation describes compatible Xperia devices as supporting all functions. This concerns controller features, not whether a particular game supports the controller.
Remote Play has separate requirements
If you are pairing the controller for PlayStation Remote Play, use the Remote Play platform requirements rather than assuming the general controller thresholds above are sufficient. PlayStation lists these connection options:

Wired connection to a Windows PC
Bluetooth pairing does not require a cable or adapter. For a wired Windows PC connection, PlayStation identifies a DUALSHOCK 4 USB wireless adaptor or a compatible micro-USB cable as options in its PC and Mac connection guide.

Reconnect to a PS4 or PS5
If you want to use the controller with a PlayStation console again, connect it to the console using a compatible USB cable and press PS. Once it connects, unplug the cable for wireless play. This console reconnection procedure is different from SHARE + PS Bluetooth pairing; PlayStation gives it in its DUALSHOCK 4 support guide.
