Which platforms can play Sea of Stars?
The official FAQ lists PC via Steam and GOG; Nintendo Switch and Switch 2; PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5; Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X; and iOS and Android. Sabotage’s June 8, 2026 Sunset Edition announcement confirms the console and PC platforms in its update rollout.
How much storage does Sea of Stars need?
Nintendo’s US eShop lists a “Game file size” of 5.3 GB for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo UK also lists 5.3 GB for Switch 2. These figures are Nintendo’s listed sizes; a verified file size for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, or Android is not established here.

Physical editions and current stock
The official FAQ directs buyers to iam8bit and retailers for physical copies. iam8bit’s Sea of Stars collection lists editions for Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, but some platform editions are marked sold out. Check the selected platform and region on the retailer’s product page before ordering; stock and availability can change.
iam8bit describes its exclusive console editions as including a manual, slipcase, poster/map, soundtrack download, and sticker sheets. Those extras are specific to the described exclusive editions, not guaranteed with every retail copy. iam8bit also cautions that DLC compatibility can vary by region, so match the game edition and DLC region.

Collector’s Edition
Sabotage announced a physical Collector’s Edition with iam8bit for later in 2026. The exact order status and shipping date have not been confirmed in the cited announcement, so check the official store for current details.

Sabotage called the Sunset Edition, announced June 8, 2026, the game’s final update. It is free to existing owners on the platforms listed in the announcement. The studio’s FAQ says the free Throes of the Watchmaker DLC launched in May 2025 and that no further updates or DLC are planned.

In its June 2026 announcement, Sabotage said Sea of Stars had been played by more than 6 million people. That is the studio’s reported cumulative figure; the announcement does not provide a measurement methodology.
