Snare Setter is a Red Tool in Hollow Knight: Silksong that places a Silk rune, which explodes when an enemy approaches. You can find it in a hidden room in Weavenest Atla, but you need the Faydown Cloak to reach the area. Before handing it to the Caretaker for the Silk and Soul Wish, note that it disappears from your inventory afterward.
What Snare Setter does
Snare Setter uses shell canisters and Hornet’s Silk to place an explosive rune on the ground. Hold the skill input to set it. Placement takes time and can be interrupted, so it is not an instant attack.

- Each placement consumes one strand of Silk and one tool use.
- The rune flickers for one second when an enemy comes close, then explodes.
- You can have up to four runes active. Placing a fifth removes the oldest.

Where to find Snare Setter
Look for a hidden chamber in Weavenest Atla. The Faydown Cloak is required to access the area. The Game8 location guide also identifies Weavenest Atla and the cloak prerequisite.

Available guides agree on the area and requirement but differ in route-level detail, so the reliable takeaway is to explore the hidden section of Weavenest Atla after obtaining the cloak rather than rely on unverified turn-by-turn landmarks.
Should you hand it in for the Silk and Soul Wish?
The Caretaker in Songclave requests Snare Setter as part of the Silk and Soul Wish, alongside the Seeker’s Soul, Maiden’s Soul, and Hermit’s Soul. The wiki reports that Snare Setter disappears from your inventory when handed in and cannot be recovered.

Decide whether to keep using the tool or complete the Wish before submitting it. If you turn it in, do not expect to retrieve it for later use.
