If you want another campaign built around patient stealth, tactical combat and explosive set pieces, the familiar approach may be exactly the appeal. If you are looking for a major change from Sniper Elite 5, the critical response suggests tempering expectations.
Is Sniper Elite: Resistance worth it?
It depends on what you want from the series. PC Gamer’s review of the PC version scored the game 74/100 and called it “a fun but inessential addition to the franchise.” GamesRadar+ was more upbeat, describing a familiar game that remains consistently fun and occasionally tense, with an effective balance between action and stealth. Those reviews point to a solid fit for players who enjoy the established formula, not a must-play reinvention.
The core decision is familiarity versus novelty: consider Resistance if you want another opportunity to approach combat tactically and take on a campaign in the series’ recognizable style. If the main reason you would buy a new entry is to see the mechanics or structure change substantially, the reviews offer little reason to expect that.
Is Sniper Elite: Resistance just more Sniper Elite 5?
In broad terms, yes: it returns to the familiar Sniper Elite 5 formula. The main change highlighted by the publisher is the story and its central character. Rebellion places the campaign in occupied France and follows Harry Hawker, an SOE agent, in a story that runs parallel to Sniper Elite 5 (Rebellion’s game page).

- Brand new. UK Import PAL version. Game in English. UK PSN account may be required for any online features.
That framing makes the game easier to judge: it offers a new campaign within an established series structure, rather than presenting itself as a major redesign. GamesRadar+’s praise for the action-and-stealth balance shows why that continuity can work; PC Gamer’s “inessential” verdict captures the trade-off for players who want a bigger leap.
What platforms is Sniper Elite: Resistance on?
The game launched on January 30, 2025. Rebellion lists PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, including Steam and the Epic Games Store. Storefront availability can vary by region, so confirm that the edition you want is currently listed for your platform before purchasing (Rebellion; Steam).

- Based on the critically-acclaimed Sniper Elite video game series, with one player taking on the role of elite Allied sniper Karl Fairburne and their opponents teaming up to hunt them down.
- A tense one-versus-many hidden-movement game where bluff and deduction meets tactical combat, as every shot and movement risks revealing the sniper's location, but every step closer makes the defenders an easier target.
- Fast paced and action-packed, with an average play time of 45 minutes at any player count.
- Co-designed by award-winning designer David Thompson, designer of acclaimed war-themed titles like War Chest and the Undaunted series.
- Includes a double sided-playing board with two different maps, ten unique ink-washed miniatures and fully illustrated cards from the concept art team behind the videogame series.

Can you play solo, co-op or online against other players?
Yes. The PlayStation listing describes a solo campaign alongside several online options: Axis Invasion, competitive battles for up to 16 players, and co-op Survival for up to four players. It also says online play is optional. On PlayStation, online play requires PlayStation Plus; that requirement is specific to the PlayStation listing and should not be assumed to apply to other platforms (PlayStation Store, US).

The editions and add-ons shown depend on platform and store. The PlayStation US listing offers Standard and Deluxe editions, and identifies the season pass as part of Deluxe. Rebellion describes the season pass as including the following content:
Rank #4
- Enter the stadium and take part of one of the biggest competitions across 34 sports: from swimming, soccer, extreme bike, weightlifting, trampoline and much more!
- Defend your own country and visit the World: United States, Australia, Japan, France…
- Train yourself alone or compete with your friends!
- An enhanced version of “30 Sport Games in 1”, with revamped design, new games and more customisation!
- Three campaign missions
- Three weapon packs
- Three weapon skin packs
- One character skin pack
- The Target Führer: Lights, Camera, Achtung! mission
Rebellion says the pass grants released content at purchase and future content as it launches. That description does not establish that every item is already available at any given time. Check the current listing for your platform and region to confirm what is included and available (Rebellion season pass details; PlayStation Store, US).
Neither the edition name nor the season-pass contents make Deluxe the right choice for every player: its added value depends on whether you want the listed downloadable content. Prices and promotions change by storefront and region, so compare current listings rather than relying on an old price.
