What counts as a crash—and what to do first
Rebellion defines a crash as a game that stops functioning and exits by itself. If the PS4 displays a prompt to submit a crash report, follow it and include as much information as you can. Rebellion says PlayStation crash reports can include a 30-second video clip. Note any displayed error code as well.
The checks below draw on general PlayStation and Ubisoft PS4 support guidance. They are ordered from simpler checks to more involved steps; none is established as a title-specific fix.

Install available game and system updates
Check for an update for Sniper Elite: Resistance and for PS4 system software. PlayStation and Ubisoft both include updates in their troubleshooting guidance; Ubisoft notes that outdated system software can contribute to performance issues. Fully restart the PS4
Save and close what you can, then use the console’s power menu to turn it off completely. Wait for it to shut down, then turn it back on and launch the game. A full restart is a basic diagnostic check, not a confirmed fix for a known Resistance issue.

Make sure installation has finished
Check the PS4’s notifications or downloads for a pending or incomplete game installation or update. Ubisoft’s general PS4 guidance notes that an incomplete installation can cause problems. Wait for any relevant download or installation to finish before testing again.

Check the disc and storage connection
If you play from disc, inspect it for dirt or damage, clean it carefully if needed, and make sure it is inserted correctly. If the game is installed on USB extended storage, check that the drive is connected securely and recognized by the PS4. These checks follow PlayStation’s general game-start guidance.

Try launching once while offline
As a diagnostic test, disconnect the PS4 from the internet and try launching the game. Ubisoft includes this check in its general PS4 troubleshooting advice. If the game launches offline, reconnect afterward and see whether the crash returns. This test does not establish that Resistance works without a network connection or that a network issue is the cause.

Restore licenses
For a digital copy, restoring licenses is one of the account-related checks listed in PlayStation and Ubisoft PS4 guidance. On PS4, open Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses, follow the prompts, and test the game again.

Rebuild the database in Safe Mode
PlayStation and Ubisoft include rebuilding the PS4 database among their troubleshooting steps. Before using Safe Mode, back up important data: Ubisoft cautions that some Safe Mode options can result in data loss. To enter Safe Mode, turn the console off, then press and hold its power button until you hear the second beep; connect the controller by USB and choose Rebuild Database. Do not select other options unless you understand their effects.

Reinstall the game
If the earlier checks do not help, delete the game and reinstall it, following PlayStation’s game-start guidance. Ubisoft suggests trying internal storage if the game is installed on an external drive. Check how your saves are handled before deleting anything: save storage and redownload requirements depend on your setup. Reinstallation is a troubleshooting attempt, not a guaranteed remedy.

Report a repeatable crash with useful details
If the game still crashes, submit the PlayStation crash report when prompted and contact Rebellion through its bug-reporting route. Include the platform (PS4), the error code, mission or location, what you were doing immediately before the crash, and whether the issue happens consistently. Rebellion says screenshots, photos, or video can help; its PlayStation crash-report flow can include a 30-second clip. If PlayStation game-start troubleshooting has not resolved the problem, PlayStation also advises contacting its support.

What the guidance does—and does not—confirm
Rebellion’s platform FAQ lists PlayStation 4 for Sniper Elite: Resistance. Its crash and bug-report pages explain how to send information, while the PlayStation and Ubisoft pages provide general console troubleshooting. The available official guidance does not confirm a widespread PS4 crash, name a specific cause for this game, or guarantee that offline play, database rebuilding, reinstalling, or a particular update will resolve it.
