Season 2 made the early-access game feel more social and substantial, adding co-op challenges, new areas, tricks and replay tools. That was a meaningful improvement over Season 1, not proof that the game’s launch problems—or the live-service debate—were settled. Season 2 ran from December 2, 2025, to March 10, 2026; EA’s game page listed Season 5 by October 8, 2026.
Was Skate. Season 2 worth returning for?
For players who wanted more reasons to skate with friends and explore San Van, Season 2 offered a credible reason to come back. It added features that affected play, not just a fresh set of cosmetics. But “found its feet” is best read as a qualified assessment of the season’s direction, not a consensus verdict or evidence that every early-access issue was fixed.
Absolute Geeks’ December 5, 2025 review was favorable, rating the season 4.2 out of 5 and praising its city, social tools, progression pacing and tricks. The reviewer also encountered a bug and progress reset that blocked access to the new Own the Lot mode. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a measure of how the season worked for everyone. What Season 2 added
EA’s November 25, 2025 announcement described a mix of cooperative play, social features, new spots and creative tools. The update made the city and group play feel more fully served, while adding a few new ways to shape and share a line. EA’s Season 2 announcement is the source for the season’s feature details.

Co-op challenges and party tools
Own the Lot brought timed challenges for parties of one to four players. Party Voice Chat and Party Beacons gave groups built-in ways to coordinate and regroup. These additions addressed a conspicuous part of the game’s appeal: skating around with other people, rather than treating San Van as a solo playground.
More spots and trick options
EA added four areas it said would remain after the season: Casper Hotel Rooftop, Eelside Tunnel, Museum of Natural History Roof Patio and Canal Building. The season also introduced Impossible flips and expanded handplant variants from two to 16, broadening the available trick vocabulary.

Replay Editor improvements
The first described Replay Editor improvements included an advanced mode with enhanced trimming, keyframes, interpolation and additional camera-framing controls. Those tools matter to players who want to shape a clip rather than simply capture a run, though their presence alone does not establish how polished or easy to use the editor felt in practice.
Did progression improve?
EA increased the number of seasonal challenge rotations and the total Tix available from seasonal challenges, while lowering the reward for individual challenges. In its November 25, 2025 announcement, EA listed 30 challenges and 120 rotations for Season 2, compared with 30 challenges in Season 1. It put the maximum earnable Tix at 76,357 for Season 2, including Own the Lot, versus 42,011 for Season 1. These are EA’s published figures, not an independent audit.

The changes followed a November 10 developer update acknowledging that launch problems included progression locks and that rewards and progression still needed tuning. Full Circle said it was working to reduce the grind and increase Season 2 pass tiers. More challenge rotations and a higher published maximum gave players more opportunities to earn Tix; they do not, by themselves, show how rewarding the grind felt to different players. Full Circle’s November developer update outlines the studio’s response.
What remained rough?
Full Circle acknowledged that bugs, glitches, progression locks and performance problems had affected players after launch. The studio said far more people joined in the first weeks than it expected, describing the influx as “millions”; that is the developer’s broad, self-reported account, not a verified active-player or retention figure. It described batch fixes for players who were stuck and longer-term work intended to prevent a recurrence.

The repair work continued into Season 2. EA’s December 12, 2025 patch notes said a December 15 patch would address issues discovered after the season launched, including stability and performance. The independent review’s Own the Lot access problem is another concrete example of a bug still affecting at least one reviewer; it cannot establish how common the issue was. EA’s December patch notes describe that follow-up work.

Is Skate. still a live service?
Yes. EA’s game page listed Season 5, beginning September 8, 2026, and a September 2026 update as of October 8, 2026. That establishes that the service continued beyond Season 2, but continuation alone does not show that launch concerns were resolved or that players broadly approved of the model. EA’s skate. home page lists the later season and update.
The model also comes with practical conditions: EA lists PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC availability, and says persistent internet access and an EA account are required. The game includes optional purchases. For players who want an evolving online skate game, regular seasons can mean new content and ongoing changes; anyone looking for an offline, finished experience should factor in those requirements.
Who should come back?
- Consider returning if free skating, group sessions, new spots and creative replay tools are what you want from the game. Season 2 added meaningful options in each of those areas.
- Keep expectations measured if you left because of bugs or frustrating progression. The studio acknowledged those problems, but the available coverage does not establish that every player’s issues were fixed.
- Look elsewhere if you need offline play or a clearly finished game. Persistent internet access is required, and EA continued to describe the game through a season-based service well after Season 2.
There is no representative Season 2 satisfaction survey, verified retention figure or season-specific aggregate review score in the available sources. The defensible takeaway is narrower: Season 2 made Skate. more feature-rich and social, while contemporary evidence still showed reliability problems and does not prove a lasting recovery.
