The first ending reframes much of Hinako’s apparent journey through fog-shrouded Ebisugaoka as a drug-induced psychosis experienced by adult Hinako on her wedding day. Other routes alter the outcome and add context, but the available ending guide does not establish one ending as definitively canonical. Here’s how the first reveal and the other routes fit together.

What is SILENT HILL f about?
Konami sets SILENT HILL f in 1960s Japan, in the remote mountain town of Ebisugaoka. High-school student Shimizu Hinako faces a fog that transforms the familiar town into a hostile, uncanny place. The official premise describes her solving puzzles, fighting entities and confronting impossible decisions amid a tension between beauty and madness. Konami’s launch announcement also highlights the pressure of social expectations on Hinako and choices that affect her fate. Konami’s announcement names Ryukishi07 as the writer, kera as creature designer, and Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage as composers for the Fog World and Otherworld, respectively.
Ryukishi07 said of the story: “I’ve poured all my efforts into this story, so much so that I don’t think I would mind if it was the last thing I ever wrote.”

What happens in the first ending?
In GameSpot’s account of the first ending, the high-school journey is revealed as a drug-induced psychosis experienced by adult Hinako on her wedding day. The real-world reveal includes Hinako killing friends and family. This is a secondary-source recap of the ending, not the publisher’s spoiler-free synopsis.
GameSpot connects the hallucinations to Kakura-Makakura, a medicine Shu gives Hinako, and to Hakkokusou, an herb described in in-game documents as part of the game’s supernatural lore. The reveal makes the story’s transformations and horrors operate on two levels: as the nightmare Hinako experiences and as a disturbing account of the violence around her real-life circumstances. GameSpot’s ending and series-connection discussion provides that interpretation.

How do the other endings change the story?
PC Gamer counts four “proper” endings, plus a joke UFO ending. The guide presents the endings as distinct outcomes, not as a single, uncomplicated resolution. The comparison below separates the route details the guide reports from what can reasonably be inferred about their narrative effect.
| Route | What the guide reports | What it changes or adds |
|---|---|---|
| First ending | GameSpot’s recap reveals adult Hinako on her wedding day and frames the apparent high-school adventure as drug-induced psychosis. | It sharply reframes the earlier events and exposes the violence in Hinako’s real-world situation. |
| Ebisugaoka in Silence | PC Gamer says the route requires completing two different endings, avoiding red capsules, purifying the Sacred Sword, and offering the brooch. | The guide says it gives more context about Hinako’s family and ends openly, rather than resolving every question. |
| Two other proper endings | PC Gamer counts these among the four proper endings, but the route details summarized here do not establish their specific conditions or outcomes. | Their inclusion underscores that the game has multiple serious outcomes; a more specific comparison is not established by the cited guide details here. |
| UFO ending | PC Gamer says it requires finding radio broadcasts and movie posters. | It is a joke and homage route rather than another straightforward serious resolution. |
PC Gamer’s labels and evaluations are the guide’s editorial framing; neither “good” nor “true” should be treated as an official canon designation. Read the routes by asking what they show about Hinako’s choices and agency, how they recast her ties to Shu and her family, and how much of the mystery they resolve. On those axes, Ebisugaoka in Silence is notable for adding family context while leaving its conclusion open. PC Gamer’s ending guide lists the route requirements and its characterization of the outcomes.

Does SILENT HILL f connect to the rest of the series?
The available reporting does not establish a definitive continuity link to earlier Silent Hill games. GameSpot explicitly addresses the question of whether SILENT HILL f has a connection to the rest of the series, but a thematic or interpretive reading should not be mistaken for proof that its events directly continue an earlier game’s plot. Treat it as a story centered on Hinako and Ebisugaoka unless a specific connection is supported by the game or an official statement.
