Those figures describe the 2025 launch build, however: Sony announced upgraded PSSR support for the PS5 Pro version in March 2026, and no new independent resolution or frame-rate measurements were provided with that update.
What the launch-era analysis reported
Notebookcheck’s September 24, 2025 report, which attributes its figures to a technical comparison by ElAnalistaDeBits, describes different rendering modes on the base PS5 and PS5 Pro. Internal resolution is the resolution at which a game renders before its image is upscaled for output; it is not the same as the resolution sent to the display.

| Console and mode | Reported internal resolution | Upscaled output | Reported performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base PS5, Performance Mode | Dynamic range of 360p–720p | 1800p | 60-FPS target |
| Base PS5, Quality Mode | 720p | 2160p | 30 FPS, with cutscene dips to 27 FPS |
| PS5 Pro, single reported setting | 720p | 2160p using PSSR | 60 FPS; described as offering improved fidelity relative to base PS5 |
These are Notebookcheck’s account of the external comparison, not resolution specifications or measurements published by Konami or Sony. The report’s 27-FPS observation applies to Quality Mode cutscenes, not to every mode or the game as a whole. Notebookcheck’s September 2025 report provides the launch-era figures.
Why output resolution does not tell the whole story
An upscaled 2160p output does not mean the game rendered every frame natively at 2160p. The launch-era comparison reported that the base PS5 Performance Mode varied its internal resolution from 360p to 720p before upscaling to 1800p, while the PS5 Pro’s reported 720p image was upscaled to 2160p with PSSR. The internal-resolution figures therefore help explain how the modes pursued their different output and performance goals; they do not, by themselves, establish how sharp or stable the final image looks in every scene.

What changed with the PS5 Pro PSSR update
On March 16, 2026, Sony announced that upgraded PSSR support was rolling out to SILENT HILL f on PS5 Pro. The PlayStation Blog describes the system update as improving image stability, detail clarity, and performance consistency across supported games. Konami’s SILENT HILL f Production Team said the game now offers “an even smoother gameplay experience than before,” and that fine details such as grass and shadows are rendered with greater clarity. Those are the developer’s qualitative assessments, not fresh independent measurements. Sony’s announcement does not give a new internal-resolution range, frame-time graph, or measured post-update frame rate.
As a result, the 2025 Pro figures should not be presented as a retest of the upgraded build. Nor does the announcement establish that the update raised internal resolution or removed every visual artifact. The available official information confirms upgraded-PSSR support and relays Konami’s assessment; it does not quantify the change.

How to read the PS5 Pro launch impressions
Push Square’s September 22, 2025 coverage of Digital Foundry’s launch analysis described the PS5 Pro’s “Enhanced” mode as mostly smooth at 60 frames per second, while noting shimmering and lighting issues associated with PSSR. Push Square also reported micro-stutters during its own time with the game. These impressions predate the March 2026 PSSR update and should be treated as historical launch-build observations, not a verdict on current performance. Push Square’s launch-era coverage provides that context.

- The widely cited 360p–720p, 720p, 1800p, and 2160p figures come from a September 2025 report of launch-era testing.
- The report distinguishes base PS5 Performance and Quality modes from the PS5 Pro’s single reported setting; “PS5 versus Pro” alone hides those mode differences.
- Sony confirmed upgraded PSSR support for SILENT HILL f on PS5 Pro in March 2026, but did not publish updated numerical performance results.
- Current post-update internal resolution and independently measured frame-rate behavior remain unquantified in the cited coverage.
